I found this prong detecting an empty old lot this week. Looks to be either gold-filled or gold-plated over copper. Perhaps a pin of some sort that once held a large stone?

I also found another but larger Fairfield silver-plated spoon and a toy lead nurse to compliment my wounded toy soldier from last week. ;D

Anybody know what those symbols mean on the spoon handle?

Ray

Hey Nick,

I thought about that but the prong looks way to big. But I could be wrong. I think I'll unbend it and see what it looks like then.

Edit: holy moly, you're right Nick. It is a ring. I bent it out and sure enough, it probably held a 1/4 to 1/2 carat stone. I got a marking on the inside but can't make it out yet. I'll see if I can clean it up a bit.

all those goodies are neat ones thou..cool finds...

Thanks bootybay and rtde3!

Now, here's a couple pics of the prong that turned into a ring. I cleaned the inside and found that the marking says 14K (obviously plated over copper). Now I'm just a bit more jazzed about it!! ;D It even fits my ring finger.

Wow....if you remember where you dug that ring, i think it would be worth it to sift the dirt around that area a little....maybe find the gem that was in it

I'd go back and look for the stone too.

Nice finds now go back and look for stone--probably 3 carat diamond lol.

Yes! I agree! Never know what was in there! :o Congrats on those finds!!

Nana :)

Hey folks, here's an update on the spoon: it belongs to Fairfield's Alpha collection, circa 1915. I still haven't figured out what the symbols mean yet, but I think robberry just may have something there! ;D

I'm not sure if I can remember which hole I dug this out of, but tomorrow I'll go grab some dirt from where I think I may have dug it up and screen the dirt. Who knows, I just may get lucky and find the stone. Wouldn't that be cool?

Good Luck on the stone Ray.....Awesome call Nick!.I looked up some Fairfield and it's all pretty much coming up early 1900's.Lead nurse is awesome.....great find's!!!

Ray,
Congrad's on finding that ring. +The nurse is cool!!
Hope you find a 3 carrot diamond, from the ring.

Nice finds! I don't really post that often here anymore but anyways....That setting looks like a tension setting, which if it is then that means there is a diamond because only diamonds can be set like that. Good luck! :D

Nice going!
Hope there's a big honking diamond in your siftings :)
But, the nurse is my favorite!

Do you think kids today still make mud pies in the back yard with mom's spoons?
seems to me they don't.

I think I like the little figurine also the best, great finds good luck finding the stone

Very nice finds Ray, keep at it, Gold and Big Silver is waiting for you. You just have to manage it out like you are doing.
HH and thanks for the fantastic photos. :)
