Thats a cool key that didnt get returned to outlet. It looks like it may go to an important lock.

All I got the "Square Deal" was President Theodore Roosevelt's domestic program formed upon three basic ideas: conservation of natural resources, control of corporations, and consumer protection.

Thanks guys! JB - found it at Ancestry.com. They have a section of City Directories that is searchable. It can be really helpful.

It appears to be an old "Corbin" style advertising key.
There is a Masonic image on the key; the framing square. Could this be relevent?

Best,
Scott

I believe it is not Masonic related ...because it is simply a Carpenter's Square, with no other Masonic symbols accompanying it ...and the company's logo says "square deal that built a square block."

So it opened in 1891 and its decline started in the 1950's..Said something about closing in 1981 :dontknow:

What do you think the dating on this key would be??

The serial numbers more modern :dontknow:
Or where they doing this in the late 1800's..

I dont know but it looks like it went to something important. Yea the lettering does look after WWI type fonts. No serifs.
