strange rock- need i d please

my brother found this along hte missouri river. he says it's very heavy, about 16 inches across.any ideas? all help is greatly appreciated .

I'd take it to your closet university and see if anybody there can tell you,it looks like something from space.

Yep thats what it looks like to me, around here they are formed near viens of coal or shale, some have crystals like a geode along the crackly lines.
