I was exploring in AZ along the Hassayampa river, near that black lava area just N of Wickenburg, and came across a 4 inch wide 10 ft. long, pitch black rock, with millions of Diamond like sparkles of something reflecting the Sun evenly throughout.
It was very hard and I found a couple chunks to take back to identify.
A guy I worked with was named Mica, so I gave him a sparkly rock, thinking it was Mica.
After leaving Az I had lost the other piece I had.
In any Rock book I've looked, I have 2 now, I cannot find a match to what I found.
I recall it being Very hard pitch black, but I don't recall any Mica flakes coming off in our hands.
It was not Schist, so Mica schist isn't close.
I plan on returning eventually to retrieve more, because it was cool and interesting.
Any ideas as to what it probably is?
A basalt with Mica specs? I can't find any pics in the books.
