Streaming TV options??

Can't afford the Direct TV bill any longer..paying too damn much for
not enough.

We're going to switch to a streaming option (seems about half the
price), but there's a bunch of 'em. Sling, Hulu, etc. We have Disney+,
Hulu and ESPN+, but the Hulu "live" costs another $69 a month.

Before I make that commitment thought it might be good to get a
few second opinions from Y'all.

I use Myflixer.to for anything the streaming services have and its free with no ads dont even need to sign up, I use a PC so this might not be a option for you. Ive bin using it over 2 years now...

"Jail broke" allows you to download apps not on Amazon. If you check Facebook Market Place or Craigslist for your area you can find them fairly cheap.

Lot of free or super cheap streaming apps you can download.

We have a basic, legit Firestick. It can be frustrating at times, but we pay nothing after the initial $25 purchase.
We’re not big TV people though, pretty easy to please.

For what it's worth, I pay $70 a month Sling TV, mainly to receive ESPN, though I actually rarely watch it. Then the free apps have enough content to satisfy my meager TV needs: Pluto TV, Tubi, Crackle. It's just a bit more cumbersome to scroll through and find an acceptable movie or show to watch.

add up to less than half of what I'm paying Directv.

With the cost of things today, it's getting tough to get by on just SS.
Pissed me off when I had to make a choice..insulin or entertainment.

Get a Roku device, it has a lot of free programs with it including TV channels. Check on Peacock, I only pay $1.99 month and it has all NBC programing and movies.

74 Mbps download. Streaming is no problem.

It's very rare these days that I'm surprised by anything..but today I was
quite surprised when I was able to work with DirecTv to get my bill
reduced to an affordable level.

Talked to what I call a "customer retention specialist". No disrespect
to those other countries providing customer service, but I prefer
talking to an American; in this case a lady in Kentucky. She re-worked
our channel plan, I still kept all the channels I wanted plus we added
Discovery+. My new monthly bill is now $54 instead of $164, saving us
over $1,000 a year. A much better outcome than paying $50-$70 for Hulu live or another streaming service.

We cut the cable about 10 years ago, we live about 38 miles from both Cleveland and Akron so we get about 60 over the air channels with a standard TV antenna. The wife subscribes to PHILO for about $21 per month, I watch YouTube on the smart TV, I like hot rod shows, comedians, WW2 history, tanks, aircraft. You can also get Pluto TV for free. We do have a Roku tv in the garage and Roku boxes on the other 2 TVs. If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber you can use that to stream shows to. We started with Netflix and Hulu 10 years ago and unsubscribed after about a year.
