I'm stumped too....
Leaning toward early bicycle or motorcycle registration....
The tabs are a clue I think...not a primary tag, but an attachment....

Could be from an early auto as well....so many possibilities....

I'll be watching this one....

Could it have come from a Bus Driver, or Conductor's hat?

I like that idea too.... The 452 is so random, a small enough number to be like an employee, as opposed to a higher population

I looked closely at your pics and there was definitely a pin that went through it on the back to pin it to a hat or uniform of some sort. Now you don't say if there are any towns near you that start with an M, but it could be the name of a bus company or any multitude of other companies including some police or fire.

I really have no idea what it may have come off of, but....
With that type of attachment (little bent-over tabs) it reminds me of my childhood metal toys.
Could be associated with Mettel, Marx or marvel toys.
Just a thought....

Thank you Everyone! I like the idea of a hat badge for a fireman or toy fireman hat. Will keep looking and let you know if I come up with anything :) Paul:coffee2:

All hat badges I've seen had much stronger attachment apparatuses. It does look like it attached to a tin toy though.
Since there was a 452 engine, maybe an emblem off a pedal car or tractor?
