This thread is going to be dedicated to my interesting coin roll hunting finds that I think are errors/varieties/etc. I don't want this in the CRH Log subforum, hidden in plain sight, so that's why I'm posting it in the higher-traffic coin roll hunting forum.
I am NOT an expert on numismatics, but I can certainly take pictures and ask questions with the best of them. Coin experts, please check this thread regularly and weigh in on my perceived finds. Novices (like me), soak up the knowledge. I'd like this thread to be a place to learn how to find the treasure that you'd normally toss out with your other dump coins.
I've been saving up oddities for a couple years now, only picking out coins that really stood out to me. Now that I finally purchased a 10x loupe, I can take a closer look at all my coins and really start finding some neat stuff.
I'll be posting one coin at a time, and I'll allow enough time and discussion between coins to adequately identify the error/variety/etc. and whether the coin is worth keeping or not. I've got a bunch of coins lined up, and I'm ready to talk about them. I just have to take the pictures - so stay tuned!

Thanks huntsman53 for the appearance and insights. Let's continue the rapid fire!
This 1997-P Roosevelt dime has extra metal under his bust on the obverse. I've found a few like this. I'll upload in the next couple posts. But is that all that I have here? Roosevelt's eye seems weird to me, though I feel that is normal.

Here's the second one. It goes along most of the whole bottom of the bust on this 1984-D. Also has a die crack through MER in AMERICA on the reverse.

And here's the third one. It's a 1988-D with a real honker under the bust.
Are all three of these dimes just standard die chips? Or are they interior die breaks? Or something else entirely?

The extra metal on the 1997-P Dime is likely due to chipping along the edge of the detail or from aggressive grinding during Die repairs.

if the '96-D is SILVER solder--- cut it, break it or file it--- that bein' a decent chunk O' silva :laughing9:

nice die chip under FDR's bust. attachments are "invalid"

I think my internet blinked out during both of the posts, which screwed up the uploads. Check out the pics now.

The extra metal on 1984-D Dime is probably due to damage to the Die during repairs or from Die Deterioration. The 1988-D Dime has a retained Cud that may have come from another previously struck coin.

Speaking of die chips and interior die breaks (and things in between), I believe I found my first BIE on this 1960-D Lincoln cent.

nice BIE, just sold a 98-P BIE for $5. IDB's & die chips are a hairy fuzzy line---

kinda depends on what the meaning of "IS"------- IS :dontknow::tongue3: :laughing9:

Nice Early BIE

I have a couple of coins like these in my oddity stash. This one in particular is a 1961-D Lincoln cent. It has lines of what could be post mint damage that has aged nicely with the coin. Or it could be a lamination error. I'm also not sure what's up with the date. Any ideas?

Hello Clarice!
I've got a few more I'm going to post as soon as the photos are done uploading.

I find this next one even more curious. It's a 1975-D Lincoln cent. It has a lot less action on it. This one has a single line going through the obverse with nice-sized lamination flakes running all the way along it, with an especially nice one right by the date. I still think it could be post mint damage, of course. I hope it's more an interesting lamination error.
