That blade is sweet , it is one really nice blade for sure. those braclet ends are interesting . Killer artifact's. I really like seeing them .

scoria is a rock that comes from western north dakota
it is most prolific about halfway between bismarck and the ND Montana state line
it is used for surface on gravel roads and also used for making brick like at the hebron, ND brick factory
it is a soft material a little like red chalk but harder than chalk
the piece w/the hole in it is what i was talking about, scoria is the reddish material rather than the shape
i hope i explained this right so let me know if you see what i mean, K?

You explained it! I understand, that was a new term for me, I thought maybe it referred to a specific type pendant. Was this material used very often? or too soft for most uses? It looks like brick!

yes it is too soft to be used for anything like tools etc
i see scoria game pieces every year but the piece w/the hole drilled in it is the first time i ever saw it used for a pendant
i am thinking it could have been crushed and used for red paint maybe

Great looking finds as usual Steve. I figured after it dried out you would start finding a bunch of artifacts. I like the Scoria Pendant. That's a cool piece. I too wouldn't be surprised if they used that stone for a paint pigment.
