This morning was the first time my son and I have hunted together since March and the year is almost over, so we were hoping both of us would come home with some goodies, in a way we both did.
First, we went to my new site and again, artifacts and coins just did not want to show themselves. I did managed 3 more buttons, bringing my three hunt total there to 11 buttons. I also found a watch with a compass in it, and my son only got a pewter top of an salt shaker, that had square holes punched into the top.
So, we went to his new site he found in September, where he got a corroded 1800 Large Cent. Shortly after we started he found one of the large 1790's colonial big buttons, of course we both thought it was going to be a Large Cent. A few minutes later my son called me over to where he had a definite coin signal, and sure enough out of the ground comes a 1806 Draped Bust Half Cent.
A bit after that I got my only two artifacts from his site, a Rosette that must have been beautiful when new with all that neat decoration on it and an whatchamacallit, which I thought at first was going to be a watch key, but I have no idea what it is.
Overall, between the two of us, 4 buttons, 1 Half Cent, 1 Rosette, 1 Compass watch, 1 salt shaker pewter top and 3 buttons from late 18th century to early 1800's.
