Sunday's Best
I decided to head over to the county fairgrounds early this morning figuring there'd be a lot to find after it ended last night. I got there a little before 7AM to try and beat the rush. Well, it wasn't meant to be I guess as there were already 2 there a'swinging. They were already hitting the favorite spot, a ride called the Zipper, which flips upside down and shakes your pockets clean, LOL Found out later they pulled up almost $6 in change and a small ring (junk one). So I hit the midway and started finding the amusement tokens. They value them at $1 each and I finally recovered 10 of them. Will just save them for the grandkids the next time the rides come to town. I also managed a bit of change. My luck seemed to abandon me as one guy picking up trash told me he had just found a $20 bill wrapped around a $10 and a $5. Was glad for him, :P.
I left the fairgrounds and went back to the lot where I found the token. Scanning around, I came up with an old toy airplane wing, a toy cap gun cylinder, and 2 wheaties 1946D and 1930D. No silver but was happy with that anyway.
I proceeded to City Hall and thought I'd check the front lawn. For some reason, I've been having a weird feeling about it as one of our club members pulled a 1916D Merc. from there about 7-8 years ago. I knew it had been hunted before and that the city laid new sod not too long ago. I started swinging and locked on to a signal, digging up a 1971D Kennedy half. I started getting more signals as I went and I'm guessing they must have had some kind of kid's party there at one time that I didn't hear about. I proceeded to dig not 1, not 2, not 3, but 10 Kennedy halves in a small area!!! Two of which are 1968D's. There were several quarters, one nickle, and a small amount of mems.
All in all, not a bad day. The total was 10 halves, 11q, 7d, 2n, 29p, 10 game tokens, and 2 wheaties I definitely went home smiling.
HH all and thanks for looking.
