I am still in a state of shock from what I found in change today - first found a very worn 1935 Washington and then one of the items that was on my wishlist for 2009, a 1900 Barber quarter with an "O" mintmark. Now it is not in the best of shape but there were only a little over 3.4 million of these guys that were minted. Who would have thought one would turn up in change, guess you never know what you will find - it just pays to keep your eyes open all the time.

Nice finds. Reminds me of an incident a few years, when I was standing in line to pay for a car wash. When I got to the cashier, the gentleman in front of me paid his bill with a handful of dollar coins. I looked over his shoulder and could not believe what I saw-- Morgan and Peace dollars! There must have been 6 or 8 of them. When he stepped away I asked the cashier if I could buy the coins from her, and she was just about to sell them to me when the manager stepped in. He said no, that they would be keeping them.

Awesome job on that Barber!!!!!!!

I pulled this one from circulation on 1/9/09. :icon_pirat:

WOW! That is awesome! The ONLY silver I have pulled out of circulation was a 1949 D quarter in VF condition at a convenience store about a year ago! Back then I wasn't really a collector but I kept it anyway and I've still got it.

Wow, bizzare find. How could someone actually consider spending that treasure??

Grats, nonetheless.

Just luck on the wish list i cant find much this year

I have seen more silver in pocket change over the last year, than over the last 10 years combined! I guess it is a sign of the times.

I just found out my father in law turned in a few hundred dollars face value in halves and silver dollars he had saved for the last 60+ years. You can imagine how much silver must have been in that coinstar!!

Wow, that had to come from some old timer's collection. I've had a number of retail jobs over the years and I always check the til for old coins/paper money. I've found a couple neat things, but certainly no silver quarters! Especially not 2 in the same day!
