When I met Mike at a few weeks back while MD'ing at the forest preserve,
he was more than willing to share some of his favorite spots where he's had
great success. Since then, we have been out there hunting 4 or 5 times and
have both made some nice finds.
When we met out there again this morning for a 3-hour hunt, he said that he
brought something for me and before I could ask him what it was, he handed
me a bag containing some really nice bottles he's found out here during the past
several years. . . TOTALLY unexpected. . . but, he's that kind of person
Now on to the hunt.
At this site, there are thick forested areas and grassy open spaces that have
seen extensive use from the early 1900's. SInce this is the only time of the year
when you can hunt the forest with ease, we've been concentrating our efforts in
these areas. The targets are few and far between but, when you get a signal,
chances are good it will be something from the early 19th-century. . . or better.
Today's finds:
Mike: 4 Wheats (1918, 1919 (x 2) and 1926) and a silver thimble.
Me: 2 Wheats (1912 and 1941) and a brass hinge

Well, that's it. . . Thanks for looking,
