Survival sites that are usefull

Go into the woods with a true survivalist for a week at a time and pay very close attention to him.

Then after you can go into the woods without him and survive a week without him and come out without having lost any weight or die from your mistakes then you can teach me what you have learned.

No city food can be taken into the woods on that last trip you make. Just you and your skills and a basic tool kit for survival.

All of us can talk the talk. It's time to listen to the ones that walked the walk.

Are we ready to survive the magor depression that is knocking on our door right now?

The real survivalists.

Are you saying you will make us happy if we allow you to teach us to eat grubs?

The main title of "survival kits that are useful" is only part of the equation.

If you have never been in a true survival situation and I gave you a survival kit. Would you know how to use it Immediatly?

Maybe, maybe not. Some people grow up in the city thinking that all meat, milk and eggs came from Safeway. That is a gross exaggeration but true in some cases. Look around the city and observe. The homeless are a week example of what I'm referring to.

Survival is one thing self sufficiency is quite another.

Survival is what is necessary when you have been placed in a temporary unexpected life threatening situation and must physically survive long enough to make it back to a place or state of safety.

Self sufficiency is what is required for maintaining survival indefinitely under differing situations.

Being able to be self sufficient should be the goal of every red blooded American.

So in the event of catastrophe, you are saying that I should eat the homeless? Or are you just saying that I should eat city people, including the homeless, in general?

Could you suggest a good place for me to get some practice?

I am confused now, and more than a little bit hungry.....
The homeless are example of how not to sUrvive.

We're both miss reading this thread. I was referring to the homeless as people whom don not catch on and I read the title of the thread as
"Survival kits that are usefull" instead of "Survival sites that are usefull"

Were any of you guys in the military? This thread I posted was to get people a chance to see just what is available to maintain a long term survival situation where there is no electricity, water, medical help, food. In other words a complete melt down. You will have to learn how to grow your own crops, can food for winter, find edible plants, hunt, start a fire to stay warm and cook, etc. etc. I am not just talking a depression and all that goes with it. I am talking about the settlers going across country in covered wagons! Look at the sites I posted. There is a lot of useful stuff there.

Lets just say, I am confidant of having the ability to be able to survive the situation you describe for as long as it takes.
Your sites will help those who need the help if they have the survival mindset that is required.

Yes, Nam taught me a lot above and beyond what the boy scout taught. I was also a trip wire vet according to the VA clinics.

Now I go out as a prospector and still use the same skills to survive. Some people are spooked by what I know and do out in the woods. City folks.

I tried Jimb to look at the sites you listed and before I got half way through I had four windows frozen up. Mostly commercial sales, and metal cargo containers? I also noticed that one guy had his account frozen by Pay-pal. I would like to learn how to live in my car but that froze up too.

You find anything useful Seamuss?

Here's a survival movie. Find it, download it, watch it. Highly entertaining!

Sorry Jimb,

Just so I don't sound like a complete downer on this subject, when you speak of 'the complete meltdown' you're not, I think, talking about 'survival'. Survival is, "Gee, I'm lost in the woods and might have to spend a couple of days".

What you're advocating is for people to learn 'primitive living skills'. Like you said "...going across country in covered wagons".

May I suggest that you google the 'Foxfire Books'.

Likely guy, I will try to find the living in the car site and re-post it here. I bought that movie last month and enjoyed it! I also know about the firefox books. Here it is. http://www.wikihow.com/Live-in-Your-Car

Mcgearhead. I made my first snare when I was 7 or 8 to catch squirrels. It was a box with a stick on a string! Yes, I let them go!

Seamus, I wish you well! Do you still have your legs? I hate trip flairs!

Yes for my legs. Had a lot of cobwebs before dicovering the web. I just could not cope back when and set up nature alarms for incoming people so I would not be alarmed at their presents in my area.

No on the trip flares. I would set odd looking rock piles in an area to get people to stop and talk about what an unusual site. That was my alarm signal.

Married now, wife keeps me honest. Twenty two years. She got a wives medal for putting up with me. Another vet designed it and made them.

I detect and prospect a lot. I'm pretty much findng the amout that I'm willing to work for. Actually it's more like looking then working.

I found books on edible plants to be very usefull on top of prospecting and mineralogy books as well as learning from other people out there in the woods over the years.

I'm farely new at treasure detecting. I'm half way good at nugget shooting. Found some nuggets over the years.
