SW Missouri Civil War finds, and my first Large Cent. Tsgman

Got into a fire pit and had some fun digging, I didn't have my sifter so after digging a small area I decided to fill it in and come back and finish it later. I found lots of bones, nails, broken glass. A few things I found were a lead tube? I almost think it is to some kind of a stove?, I found a brass rivet, lantern parts and other stuff. I went on and surfaced hunted awhile and dug a neat lead bar, a few bullets and a large brass buckle. A old spoon, and a toe plate and on my last signal I dug a 1856 Large Cent, my first one! My good friend John dug some nice stuff, a hammered bullet and a couple pocket knives and a lantern piece. I hope everyone had a great weekend! Tim

Nice finds TSG! If there is a firepit, would there be huts there as well? Looks like the pit was well used to have so much in it. HH, Mike

Probably just tents, they used the Sibley Conical tents. I only dug down to about one foot but at that depth the dirt was hard and compacted like it was the floor of the tent or hut?

Hey Tim...That large cent looks like something I have seen before....LOL.....oh yeah,it was at our house the other day .....Great finds .....and congratulations on your first large cent!
