I was actually just joking around with my dad the other day how the "redneck" has got to be the most discriminated group in the country. Im actually not joking, this is a serious comment. From tv shows, movies, ads, etc. I could not even imagine someone portraying blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc in a similar way as they do the redneck?? I'm surprised some southern governor etc hasn't made a big stink about it. Maybe they should be a "protected population" under the affirmative action laws ? Really makes most southerners look like a bunch of idiots. And yes I'm a New England Yankee from Massachusetts but even I noticed it. Didn't know they had a word for it - hixploitation - learn something new everyday. Curious if others have seen the same thing.

..... My self i am from the north...And i do notice how they sort of make fun of them...... But in the same light they are a lot smarter than most think...... They take it in stride or in fun..... not like Blacks , Hispanics, Asians , ect........... So that makes me think they think more of them selves ... Have more respect for them selves than the other groups..... And they don't need some organization to go out and stick up for them and cause trouble ............ I have friends from the south and they enjoy and laugh at the show's like we do ........ They don't get up tight and start trouble....... And by the way red necks also live up north here also ..And also in Canada....And have never been down south YOU SEE YOU CAN BE A RED NECK AND LIVE UP NORTH........... And most are proud to be red necks.. .... AND THEY KNOW HOW TO HOLD THERE HEADS HIGH AND BE PROUD...

Well said Keppy, I was going to say the same thing but you took care of it for me. Us Rednecks and Hicks aint no crybabies. If somebody says something about you and its true then embrace it...dont try to be something your not...be proud of what you are.

Well after last nights show, I have less doubt it's fake.

they now have rivals. they had to build a road to gain access to the piece of property
they wanted to hunt for pirate treasure.

the one rival in a 4 wheeler comes barreling down, & Baldy has time to run a rope across
the path. the guy on the 4 wheeler hits the rope flips over & acts injured.

Baldy goes to his family & says heHe I got em he He for all I know he's dead He he
& everyone goes hehehehe

Then later there in the water one guy goes He He
another asks are you paying attention ?
his come back I dont know but the waters getting warm here HeHe

I have lived in the south all my life. I just didnt think there was really a difference on how the northerners viewed the southerners. But I can see and read your views. We are not a lower grade of a person than anyone else. I have heard of some southerners actually firing people when they found out they were born up north and moved here now that is just funny, sorry. I have actually been treated different moving to Ga from Fl and not in the good way either. I have a different accent from them here. I get the question allot, Where you from boy? I tell them the south. And be a smart ass if I can cause who cares and I know what is coming next when they find out. I got 2 words for them but I cant put them here .

I actually Don't think your any different then Me,
or that the Majority from the south is either, except for the accents of course.

in fact I don't think it's how northerners view southerners as much as it's how TV producers on these
so called reality shows portray Southerners .
& if you read close you'll see we have a problem with it also.

in short I do believe History Channels Swamp People are more realistic
portrayals of real people.

I'm in bed 7PM ish. get up 1 AM ish scan through the programs I dvr,
& hop online here.

last time I was up all night was in Atlantic city last year,
& I was up from about 1AM Friday morning to about 7PM Sunday evening.
but I wasn't near a TV
