After a couple rough days at work I couldn’t wait to get back out at my fort site. I had to wait till early afternoon for the rain to stop. My first hit rang up like a champ. It turned out to be this A E Dietz brass lever lock model 253. Amazingly the lever still swings fine. Just a few feet away I dug another portion of a stirrup. Those things never seem to be whole. I did manage to find a period flat button followed by a coat sized dragoon and artillery Button.
It looks like the other relic is a boot toe protector? Does anyone know if soldiers used those in the 1830s?
Anyway, thanks for looking and happy hunting to all!
