I had a couple hours to spare between diaper changes and feedings and was able to get over to the "ArrowHead Field" to scrounge the earth a little. Found a few keepers but most in rough shape. This is only the second stone axe that I have found.

The stone awl is the find of the day...amazed that it survived in this plowed field.

scrounging at its best :icon_thumright:

Called keeping your sanity huh .

We'll be scouting the site where the arrowhead turned up when ploughed. Maybe I'll get my first. Don't know if it was mentioned, but the Patriot had just asked me if I ever found any, ten minutes later he is showing me one. Weird.

I didn't mention I have ZERO interest in them so no thanks. ;D

I'll gladly detect and look for the stuff, but I wouldn't walk a field just looking for Injun stuff.

I will be walking the river and creeks come winter when the water level is down.

Thats an fantastic axe head

Thanks...I like it too. I am more interested in finding these larger artifacts over the common points but will pick up everything I find. I just noticed from the profile pic of the axe that it is slightly grooved. I have been searching for a nice grooved axe but this may be as close as I get.

That must be some field. You seem to always get a handful when there.

I've never been to this field and not found something...it's a camp site which was used for 3 or 4 months of the year over about 2000 years.

I bet that is the oldest finds you have found in that field? Very nice saves. Great looking tools.

Must be one of those spots that give a person deep thoughts while searching.

Way to go romeo, you've got a great assortment there. The awl in the last pic is really something, amazing how it survived. Artifact collecting is by far my favorite hobby, each piece is unique. I can't think of anything more relaxing than walking a field in search of a nice point. Maybe one day we'll convince IP that collecting "injun stuff" is just as exciting as swinging the coil ;D
