our story begins with out intrepid heroes (ok dimensionally challenged, middle aged detector dudes) Baldingboy and Mastereagle in their secret headquarters watching the clock so they can clock out and go hunting.
I hadn't been able to have a real hunt in a couple of weeks and I was really going through withdrawl. I had convinced Baldinboy to go with me on Tuesday but he backed out on me at the last minute so I didn't get to go. I managed to convince him that yesterday was the only day to do it since snow and sleet and ice was comin in today. He tried to back out on me at the last minute yesterday saying it was "too cold" Come on, 30 degrees with a 10 MPH wind isn't too cold!
Anyway I told him to go on home to his wife and kids but I was going and I was going to find all the good stuff at a new top secret place I had found for us. He gave in, he wined a little but eventually he decided to come along for the hunt. When I pulled up at the local Municiple Court House fountain with all the coins in it, BB refused to get out of the car and we had to go find somewhere else to hunt. Man some people just do not enjoy a little excitement in their life!!
I took BB to a new house I had gotten permission to hunt. The house was built in 1929-30, has a HUGE yard and the owner said it hadn't been detected since he owned the house in 1970. Sounded good to me. We started hunting and things were REALLY quiet, too quiet.
I wasn't getting ANY signals, this went on for about 10 minutes, I was about to ask BB if he was getting anything when something occured to me. It was then that I realized I had fogotten, once again, to switch the Sunray probe to coil from probe. ![:-\](https://www.treasurenet.com/smilies/undecided.gif "Undecided :-\")
A quick flip of the switch and I was digging a 1978 quarter! Then a zinc penny and then a coin sized object that was too thin. I rubbed it carefully on my sweatshirt and saw the state of Missouri staring back at me with a hole in it, wooo hooo a TAX TOKEN! 
It was in great shape. I showed it to BB and then the owner of the house came out and talked to us for a while. He couldn't believe that we were out hunting in 30 degree weather. He really couldn't beleive it since BB was wearing his infamous TuTu and tights. 
We explained to him that we were dedicated hunters and he said "Is dedicated another buzz word for crazy?" He fit right in with BB and me. Turns out he has always wanted to detect. Next time we go I am going to take the Deleon for him to use.
Anyway it got dark and BB and I had been hunting for an hour with almost no results. I was just getting ready to get him and leave when the Beast purred to me through the headphones that it had found some sweet metal. Dug a hole in the frozen ground and out popped an Wheat penny! I filled the plug started to stand up and picked up the beast and before I could stand had another good signal. Another Wheat!!! I motioned for BB to come and hunt where I was but he made some kind of peace sign gesture with one finger and kept swinging around a big tree. Two feet forward and I heard the unmistakeable sound of Silver. Out popped a 61 Rosie!!! Man things were getting good. I started looking for BB and I couldn't find him and I got worried. It was now down to 29 degrees with a 5-10 MPH wind (it was cold). I walked around the corner and saw a sight that almost made me wet myself. There standing with his tounge stuck to the light pole in the side yard was BB! I ran to the car and got a bottle of water and after a while got him free from his frozen prison. I told him I had found 3 wheats and a silver coin in the front yard and he should come hunt with me. Then I pulled out the ring with the red stone in it and showed it to him. (IT says 1/20 12K GF and then P in a diamond)!!! I told him he should come back up front and hunt with me. He pouted for a while and proceeded to find a hotwheel jeep. I walked off and told him I had to replace the batteries in my Explorer. He mummbled something about kissing the grass or something...
I walked out to my car and I pulled out my Minelab's battery holder. Slid it into the machine and pressed the button. NOTHING! Darn I had forgotten to put new AAs in the thing last time I used it. So I pulled it out and rifled through my trunk and found the AAs. I was wrestling with the slide on the battery holder and it popped off and I felt a sudden sharp pressure between my eyes and the world went sideways! The spring on the battery holder keeps falling off and when I slid the cover off it sprang itself and two of the AAs free and into my forehead! Watch out cause that hurts!!! 
Anway I picked myself up and brushed myself off. The spring was gone and I had to jury ring the thing using a small screw that I found in my glove box.
I walked back to where I was detecting only to find a rather large, ugly man in my huntin grounds! Oh yeah the bump on my head had made me forget BB was there with me. He had decided to take my advice. He was hunting where I had been. If you have ever been fishing with someone who casts into where you are fishing when you get a fish, this was what BB was doing.!
Not really I had asked him to come over there and the place was big enough for both of us.
We hunted for another hour, BB found a wheat penny then I found one then he found one then I found one. Went on like that for a while. BB found a silver dime and I popped out the Mizpah Charm and thought at first I had a silver half!! Don't know what it is made out of but it rings up silver on the Beast! I was walking over to BB to show him when I hear him yell out "Grenade" and then "incoming" and I heard him making the sound of automatic machine gun fire! Then he threw up both arms in the air and in slow motion acted like he had been blown up and fell to the ground. I paniced and nearly messed myself!!! The cold had finally gotten to him! He had finally cracked completely up!!!!!!!!! He laid on the ground laughing hysterically and rolling around holding something to his chest. I thought maybe he really had been shot!
Just then he looks up with me like a kid at Christmas and says look what I found and shoves a lead soldier in a WW I outfit at me. This thing is in such good shape it still had the paint on most of it! At first I thought "You SOB you went and did it again you found one better thing than me." Then I stopped and realized that tonight was without a doubt the BEST hunting night for both of us yet!!!! I was so happy. I must of made BB feel bad because he started telling me he was sorry and all. I was happy for him and for me! The owner came out and looked at all we had found and he really liked the ring and the soldier. BB and I offered him anything we had found and he politely declined. BB and I loaded our stuff up it was time to go. We headed to Hardees and got some food and went back to our office, er I mean our secret location to look over our stuff.
Man what a night!!!!!
