Hi. I have a few pieces of jewelry that have tarnished due to exposure to chemicals. I was testing them with my gold kit and I left them in the box with the chemicals and this is what they looked like a few days later. What can I do??

Your gold may not be gold. The one picture, though blurry, actually looks like it's rusting, which indicates the base metal is iron based.

Whatever chemicals you had it in with brought out some of the metal the 14k is mixed with and the greenish part would be copper that is mixed in, I would take them to a jeweler to get them cleaned and polished. Let the jeweler know what chemicals they were in with. I had found a 14k chain that ended up being fake after I really got a good look at it and it changed to that colorization after trying to polish it up, plus I found some flaking that wasn't found until I put it under my digital microscope and it says 14k Italy. So a lot of fake stuff is out there.
