It has been too hot and dry to hunt much lately but I recently went back to the sidewalk tear out in a local park. I found that I had missed a small corner section in back area of park last time out. I managed to find a nice looking Franklin half just below the surface! Only my second Franklin half ever! I also found a cool local token. A child fare token for the Omaha council bluffs street car. Not a bad result for about an hour of hunting a very small area.

I also started a new segment on YouTube called 2 minute Tuesday with this find footage. Hopefully this will help scratch that silver itch for folks in a hurry! Lol. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the pics and nice finds. Grats on the Ben. The token looks very similar to the ones we find here in Denver. Same "1/2", same size and half moon holes and same metal, brass.

HH ALL!

Great finds. I am from Omaha too and the parks here are relatively hunted out. Only on occasion do we dig up a silver coin as you are well aware lol. I dug up an identical token about a week ago along florence boulevard here. Great job on the Franklin !

FBL: Full Bell Lines

From NGC website:

Another problem with Franklin halves is their quality of strike. Only those struck from reasonably fresh dies display full details — their high relief resulted in rapid erosion of the dies from excessive metal displacement. This is particularly true of the obverse, though it's the reverse that draws the attention of specialists. It's here that Franklin half dollar enthusiasts search for examples displaying full, horizontal lines across the Liberty Bell. The lower bell lines often are incomplete, and those coins that have full bell lines (abbreviated as FBL) are highly sought.
