Relic Hunting
This morning, Doug and I spent almost 3 hours hunting the Williams Cleaner camp while Josh scouted another site. That camp never ceases to amaze us as we have spent many hours there and the relic count per hunt has dropped off but it’s still worth the trip. Doug’s best find was a .577 cal. British Sharps bullet. That is the first one from this camp. We don’t dig that many of those in our area. My best find was the barrel band that held the stock & barrel together on a CW rifle. We didn’t find relic #500 from that camp today but we will soon. The “Relic Rag” displays our finds from today.
We added our “Button Hill” finds from last week to our boxes of relics from previous hunts shown on the red backgrounds. That was a fun site as well. Enjoy the video and HH from the Tennessee Trio, Quindy.

Another job well done by the Tenn Duo (Screwy & Dewy). I hope when you two retire you open a CW relic museum together. Wouldn't that be wonderful? :tongue3:
Seriously though, great job on the recoveries and thanks for another fine video Q. That artwork is amazing.
Only Dman could dig a large "D". That would look great hanging around his neck. :laughing7:
Were those rifle bands made of iron and brass material?
In Dman's "Button Hill" display, any idea what that long "L" shaped spike is just below the top row of lead?
That ink well buttet and the whistlers are outstanding finds guy! :notworthy:
Great post,
DUHg

Great post,

Both iron & brass bands MM. The Mississippi rifle had brass & Springfields used iron bands. The one I dug today was the larger rear one next to the action and would not have had a sling capability. In Doug's box, the "L" shaped relic looks like a gun tool. HH, Q.

It was funny....I was on YouTube and your video popped up ( I subscribed to your channel ) so I watched it before I saw this post. Was good to see you in front of the camera for a change. That Dman is such a ham. He needs to learn to share the spotlight. I hope you get those thirty-odd relics so you can celebrate #500.

Another prosperous hunt from the Duo of the Trio. My favs are the 'whistlers;' there's something about carved bullets that have always intrigued me. Did they really whistle or is that a myth? The barrel band is neat too. I agree with MM; I think you need to open a museum. Maybe Dman's Indigo Blues has a spare room.:tongue3:

Great video & hunt :)

Nice relic haul!

The videos get better and better. I appreciate the plug on my GGG uncles train (the General). We should have never lost her to Georgia. I have no doubt that the camp will produce the magic number easily. I am still baffled by why so many cleaners in one spot. It must have been a distribution spot for them and then a revolt and everyone chunked them. You will hit 500 I am sure. Simply amazing. This site is epic. Thanks for the ride!

I have never fired one of those bullets through a muzzleloader Breezie but the relic dealers say they will. Thanks, Q.

I enjoyed that video Q. Still hard to believe how much stuff that has been found in that camp. It was considered cleaned out years ago. Hope you get to 500 relics. I'll talk to you this week end.

Another great batch of finds, ya'll! Super finds, video and song. I need that picture! lol
Nana :hello:

Thanks for replying MSB, Trap, AQUA, Casper, JB, & Bubba. HH to all of you folks.
Nana, you do need that Alabama Cadets print since you dug one of their relics. HH, Q.
OD, Tnmountains (Richard), & Donnie (tenn. digger), we only need 6 more relics from that camp now to get 500. Wish us luck! HH, Q.

Very nice..keep diggin..more there I'm sure.

Quindy, You and crew have a great amount of saves from that site. Congrats to you all.

Man, that's a fantastic site! Hats off to you guys!

I forgot to tell Dman that I thought his carved ink well is a very special find. That would have to be displayed in a place of honor. Those "whistler" bullets are pretty unique too!
