After about a month of this I'm really learning my machine and what locations are good.
I was having a hell of a time with this plug and out popped a steak knife half.
I was happy that I saw it before I was sliding my hand around the dirt. Still, I think I would have taken a clad penny over it.
On the other hand it seems like my largest finds are coming from my own house. It seems like every few feet by the sidewalk I get a find.

One other note. Wow, does that Minnesota winter salt just eat through everything. The coins are coming out with what looks like smallpox.

Home Depot sells some nice cheap digging gloves for about $10 a pair.
I don't dig dirt anymore without them. They save your hands from cuts and keep them mostly clean during a day of digging in the muck.
Usually I go through 3-4 pairs a year.

Looks like you are getting the hang of it. Keep us posted on your future finds.

Zinc pennies get Zacne pretty quick in any soil.

I work in MN during the summers, some pretty good places to hunt up there. Have fun
