Well, continuing on from where the last post left off....this isn't all of my relic finds from the last weekend, there are a bunch more, but the pics will have to wait until sometime next week...I left them behind at the ranch, and my buddy will bring them in town then...After finding countless pieces of broken glass and pottery, I finally found my first whole bottle! It isn't very big, but it is intact! Any idea as to what was in such a small bottle? And can anyone tell my why old glass gets that sort of "fish scaling" effect on it after it has been in the ground for awhile? Next I found the top part to an oil lantern..and seems to be in good shape! This is the second one of these, I have found, with this one being the most complete...(last one dated from around the 1850's)...Also found some more buttons at the site...the first one appears to be brass, and has a stud on the back...and the second one looks like it is pewter, and I can vaguely make out some details, or maybe some words...not sure...will an oil bath help bring out that detail? Any idea as to age on this one? Also found a small round pin, but was too rusted to make out what was on it...more than likely it was an old presidential pin....found an old drawer handle, and some various shotgun shells, and rifle casings...Found some old tools, and more horse shoes and horse tack, will post those later in the week...As always, thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Nice finds Baggins ... sweet bottle ... congratz on a fine hunt ~ Jimmy

Nice finds. We always called that iridescence on the bottles "sick glass". Just some sort of oxidation.

Nice relics,

I see a nice suspender buckle in there. They usually will have a pat dat on them.

Baggins, Those are some Great relics! You've got you a fine site there. I'd like to see more pics of the buttons cleaned up. The suspender buckle is very cool too! Heck of an assortment of shotgun shells. Definitely cool bottle!
