Yesterday I got to hunt a park that has given up some really nice as well as "OLD" coins. I hit it with my hunting buddy, diggin brains, who is a silent member here at TNet. I also got a chance to meet DonInBrewster who came upon me with his buddy Charles as I was digging a target. Good thing he did too. There was a crud filled 2 center and a really worn 1/2 Reale found by diggin brains and we didn't have a clue. Don stepped up and identified both coins. The 2 center cleaned up real nice and is an 1867. Way to Go Brian.
Getting back to my hunt. I have recovered an Electro-plated Gold New Mexico State Quarter at this site. When it came out of the ground and the sun hit it, I said,, YEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Then I found out it is a common novelty coin that sells on E-Bay for about $3 each. So when I pulled an Una Peseta, (Spain), out of the ground, about an hour into the hunt,, I didn't get too crazy excited. This coin's composition is of Aluminum Bronze. That alloy gives it a sporty gold color. An hour later I dug up a 10 Euro. (France). I guess it was just my day for being teased. Some day Buddy, Some day.
My finds for the day were; 21q, 26d, 8n, 41 memorials, a 1944 wheat penny, a 1958 Canadian penny, a 1966 Una Peseta, a 2000, 10 Euro, and a toasted Buffalo Nickel.
