Where is the best place to find Spanish coins, Corolla, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head?

How far from shore did you have to go?

Any stories or suggestions?

Not asking for exact GPS coordinates. On another post I somebody said something about finding coins in the Outer Banks. I can't remember which town.

Corolla is specifically noted for its historical connection to lost fortunes and is where a Spanish galleon reportedly sank near the Currituck Inlet.
I thought somebody might have said Corolla on a post a while back.

Thank you. This is the type of answer I was looking for.

I could be an ass and say buxton or hatteras, but I won’t……..please keep in mind anywhere south of about (you need to confirm) nags head is off limits for detecting. It’s all federal land.

And you probably already knew that…just don’t want anyone getting in trouble.

Yeah Cape Hatteras is off limits.

I wonder how much there is to find there. I suspect quite a lot.

If you were a greedy Federal beaurocrat and if you knew there were things to be found in a certain area and you didn't want people getting any of it, one way to do that is to declare that area as a National Park/monument that should be preserved.

Ft fisher is same way…..fortunately or not, depending on how you wish to view

And not sure I’d like detecting hatteras or not…..can you imagine the amount of sinkers present in that beach with no detector ever walking over? It would take a dump truck to haul them out for an afternoon of detecting.

I'd venture out past the first breakers a little over head deep :laughing7:

On the serious side of your question. Only most people that woulkd tell you of places to go would be REALLY old or handicapped people that can no longer search
Good Luck and Merry Christmas
