THE CHISHOLM TRAIL HUNT

Well,it's 3:30am and I can't sleep so guess I'll check it all out.No one in chat! Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes, certainly appreciated.

MG says that's about normal wind speed. Now you know why most of those Ks guys wear beards-they use them as 'wind-breaks'.
Schlooppy, good of you to check in.Don't count me completely out yet,you may have some competition from me still.Isn't Eric the guy with that homemade detector on training wheels?Anxcious to see that and certainly hope his hangover Sat am won't keep him down.Yeah,we'll try and see if a few of you guys drain your coolers Fri night. And if I do make it,there's a bunch going to a casino fri night. Can't stay late tho, someone has mentioned that they need 'their' beauty sleep.I started to say that some of them would have to sleep for 6mo,but caught myself in time and remembered that it's me that would have to sleep that long and then the results would still fail.Gads! Can you tell that it's 4am?Coffee's done,I'm outta here.Sorry--Ramblin' Ron

WAKE UP! It's 5 o'clock and nobody here still.I can't believe it!
Mel,give us an update on your wife.Hope they have relieved that pain and that she's on her way to recovery.
Wife's sister is suppose to leave Mobile today to come up and help out.Ha!She's 63 and doesn't know how to cook! She came up last yr when I had my operation to 'help out' and I couldn't send her on her way fast enough.I had a mess of fresh crappie and catfish and she couldn't cook it.I had to hobble around with that bag hanging off me and fry that fish! But I guess she means well.Guess I'll go ahead and dress and head for the hosp. They don't care what time I come in.One thing I'll say,the wife has some super nurses this time. They are real friendly and always checking on her,of course the candy I give 'em all helps,I guess.See ya'all later.

10 Days!

Someone PM'd me and asked about my count. I am counting down until Thursday the 4th since that is when BB and I are leaving for Kansas. I do not count Friday since it is technically the first day of questionable activity by the rowdy bunch. Hope that clears that up.

Warsawdaddy I hope your wife gets to come home too. Just remember us nurses are good people that lead very stressful lives. We like to be treated nice and talked to nice like a good house plant! :D

Seriously, good doctors are important but excellent nurses are an absolute necessity! Nurses are the ones that really take care of the patients and if you have good ones you have three-fourths of the battel won! Keep taking them candy they love it and just be nice they love that too. Most of the time being a nurse is a thankless job.

Anyway hope all is well with everyone else.

NANA! Re: THE CHISHOLM TRAIL HUNT

NANA! Empty your mailbox! :(

sheesh :-*

gettin' antsy for the CTH! ;D

Nan

I been out making dry runs with my detectors just for practice! I've never really hunted just for relics before ...uh, except JD's hunt in Missouri, so I've been concentrating on just relics and pretty much leaving the coins alone. I found out there aren't many relics around these parts. What most people call relics we are still using every day! :D I'm the oldest relic for several blocks in my neighborhood! And speaking of digging.....yes we were, now don't interrupt.....One old lady about two blocks over comes out to pick up her newspaper every morning when Digsy and I go for our walk. She always manages to make it out to the curb just in time wearing her see through nightie. Shudder, gasp, it's one horrible sight and I think she digs me! See, told you this was about digging. I had to change my route it got so disgusting and embarassing. Now I walk down at the end of her street instead of by her house and I have seen her out in the yard looking up and down for me or someone, probably anyone! LOL! All my life , about half the women I attract are nuts. I put this one at the top of the list. Hmmmm, this digressed into another story. My wife Kay calls my stories "Amusing Anecdotes", and rolls her eyes and says , "Not another one". ::) So, anyway,I'm all ready and fired up for the hunt. Going down to cash in my clad this afternoon for spending money on the trip. I think I have nearly a hundred buck and that should buy a tank of gas if nothing else. How many days is it now? Monty

You heartbreaker, you! :D That poor lady now has no one to entertain!

:o ME says TEN more days!!!! :o

And dang I hate to hear that Alex won't be here this year. :-\

mastereagle22, I read your post about the nurses. I have been in and out of hospitals numerous times in the past ten years or so with one ailment or another. It seems the small specialty hospitals always have a cheerful helpful nursing staff. The bigger hospitals seem to have all the cranks that just want to get their shift over and go home. I spent some time in a local small Heart Hospital and they were excellent, the staff as well as the nurses. It was more like being in a hotel than a hospital and everything was immaculately clean and bright and there wasn't that old familiar hospital odor. The Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, TX is a really nice hospital with a wonderfully caring staff. Don't get me wrong there are some really nice and conscientious nurses in the bigger hospitals too, but not that many. I guess it's because they have 60 patients to answer to while the specialty hositals rarely have over ten or so? At any rate, being a nurse is a special calling to do a very difficult job and some are just not suited for it. Monty

Monty you will get no argument from me. I have worked with good nurses and bad. I have been a really good nurse and once or twice a bad nurse, but overall in the 20 years I have worked in the field on balance I treat all of my patients just like I would Baldingboy. No wait, I treat them way better than that! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I treat them all like I would my kids or my mother. And no BB I don't mistreat my kids or my mom. :)

OK,we'll get out of the medical field, for now,and get to the hunt field.Has the grass been ate or cut? What can we expect? And please don't say rain!I don't want the 'smores' to get wet! After reading all that 'pirate' thread(have really enjoyed it),I hope Gypsy and the two Gyps make them instead of that pie-making cabin bouy.Don't want seaweed in them.Aaargh!

Sorry wd. Been wondering what to expect as well trying to figure out what to pack. Missed the pirate thread but I have heard some about it. :) We're having SMORES? WOW! :D

Come on where is your pioneer spirit. Be ready for every thing. Only the tough survive the Chisholm Trail. Improvise if need be.

Welcome "BCS123" a fine service man coming to the Hunt.

All,

Just popping in before I hit the sack. Haven't had much sleep since this happened last Friday. We are learning more and more about how all of this started..........but they still don't have a "cause".......other than a combination of the kidney stone, ecoli bacteria poisoning, and sepsis...all resulting in both of her kidneys shutting down.

Prayers do help...and they have. As of today, her right kidney is functioning fully again...and the left one (once they get the stone out) is expected to recover.......FULLY! Her left kidney had shut down totally, and the doctors said there was ABSOLUTELY NO hope for it. Now, the doctors are calling her their miracle case because she was in full renal failure and on Death's door on Friday. Now, she is kicking butt and taking names....LOL Strangely...........and very eerie I might add.........if the Good Lord had taken her on Friday............it would have been on the 29th anniversary of Gayle's sister's death........to the very day!

The doctors feel that she is recovered enough to do surgery on her on Thursday to "blast" the stone. The surgery has some pluses and minues, so they are warning that she is not out of the woods yet. However, if the surgery goes well on Thurs, they are pushing to get her out of the hospital by Friday.........hey, insurance companies want you out of there even if you are only half alive. I am fighting to keep her in for a couple of days...but as I have found recently.....doctors have the final say over everything.

To all......thanks for the prayers. I will miss meeting you all. Jeff/Evy/Burdie.....I do intend to take my "road trip" back your way sometime in a few months.........and when I do, I do plan to meet up with you.

Hey...once Burdie sees how successful this hunt is.....maybe...............hint....hint....hint....hint....hint....maybe Burdie might schedule a Spring time CTH...?? hint...hint. And if he does, MasterEagle had better watch his metal detector, 'cause my metal detector is bigger than his detector.... ;D

Folks...may you find plenty of riches out there during the CTH..........because I found the biggest treasure of all...........you all...my friends.

Will try to let you know how the surgery comes out on Thurs. Don't know what time it will be.

Hugs,
Mel

Nice hearing from you Mel. Glad to hear things are shaping up. We will continue our prayers for all those with ailing family members.

Looking forward to meeting you all at the hunt. Mel....next time buddy. If they have a spring hunt, I will be there with bells on...or at least a finds pouch around my belt. :P
Mastereagle and I will keep the Chivas bottle dusted off for you.

For those of you attending the hunt, Mastereagle and I designed a prototype of a new digger which we will be bringing to the hunt. He had the idea, but I built the digger...like usual, I did all the work and he just complained about how to build it. :-\ It will totally revolutionize digging in hard soil.

Time is ticking down. ;D

warsawdaddy wouldn't be a very good nurse the way he kicked me out of the hospital! ;) Oh well I guess I needed it so I will mend at home! Or better yet I will mend on the Chisholm Trail. Rain or shine I will be there. We're in our second day of solid rain here at home and I am seeking a dry spot to dig. We needed some rain but not 5 or 6 inches! I am taking a spare set of rain gear to the hunt just in case , in case someone else forgets theirs. Ever dig in the rain? It can be done but it's an unusual experience. When you dig out a plug your hole almost immediately fills with water. So there is a lot of groping about in the muck and targets are hard to find. Some kind of sensitive gloves are in order so you can poke around in the water without getting cut on loose glass shards or sharp metal corners. I like the ones I find at Wal-mart for a bout six bucks that have the cloth back and rubberized palms and fingers. They don't keep you dry but they sure help keep you safe and you can feel objects fairly well when wearing them. Wow! The thunder is really booming now! Guess it's a stay at home day for me. Better luck to the rest of you. Monty

Hey Everyone, How ya'll doin this morin' Checkin this before I head to work.
WSD and Mel, you both and your wifes are still in my prayers!

Monty are you talkin about the hunt in Sand Sprins? That was fun in all that rain ;D
LOL, but it was as much fun helping, I helped bury the silver hunt and the main hunt I think I just tossed stuff in the mud ponds in that one field! :o

But yesterday it rained here once for about 5 min. then clouny and sticky till later then it cooled off fine there is supposed to be no rain here today it's all going to be your side of the state!

Starting to get things around for the hunt. CAN NOT WAIT!!

See everyone soon!

Evy :D

Great to hear she is feeling better, Mel! :)

YEA!! Brian is coming!!! Look forward to meeting you!

Can't wait to see that digger, BB! I hope you made me a left-handed one! ;D

And it's great to hear someone is getting rain! :P :D

ME says...Nine more days!! :o Into the single digits, ya'll! As expected RR is packed up and ready to go. And as usual.....I have nothing packed yet! :D
