THE CHISHOLM TRAIL HUNT

ME,

I have driven from Arkansas City KS to Springfield MO via HWY 166, and it is a pretty good road.

Kansas highways (even two-lanes) are way better than any of our roads here in Oklahoma.

I would use 166 unless you have some reason to go through Tulsa, in which case you could use 412 west to I-35, then go north to the Kansas 166 turn off.

Actually, I'm taking 15 north to 137 to Bastrop, then something else to Little Rock, then cutting west on something else to ... Tulsa? ... then north or west through Ponca City, then west or north to something else... to Caldwell. Or something like that. Wanna ride with me, anyone? Bound to be a wild ride!! :D ;D ;D :o Boy, it's gettin' late and I've got a busy weekend...

Ya'll be careful, ya hear? (Gotta go dig out my suitcase...)

ps: WSD, I'm waitin' to give you a hug ... proxy ...from your Mrs. Bless her heart! So glad she's home! Thanks for the update!!

WSD, Great news that your wife will be home I'm still praying.

Mel the same and I went to the football game last night , guess who Ponca got whooped by 45-14 yeah Enid got somethin for you at the game though talked to their coach ;D

And Stoney's right in is Are Kansas City but in the area, not in the city, we say Ark-City!

Can't wait to see everyone! Busy Day tomorrow too. Well gotta go to work.

See you all soon.

6 Days!

When I looked at the map I saw where Caldwell has a small airport. I thought hey are troubles are over I'll just have BB fly us down there and we can land there and have someoen pick us up. Then he threw a wrench into my plan. Neither one of us knows how to fly a plane. ;D

We decided to go over Hwy 60 to Springfield then 44 past Joplin take 166 straight over to 81 and into Caldwell. We will get to see some of the old route 66 scenery and run through a few small towns that way. Heck we might just find a park or two that is calling our name on the way were we can get out and exercise the Beast at the XLT!!!

WSD, glad to hear she's finally home. Prayers are still being said that she has no relapses.

Noodle, you can pick up I-40 near Little Rock and come west. You can either run it to Okla City and pick up I-35 North. Then it's a straight shot to the 166 exit and the hotel. Or you can veer off near Warner and take the Muskogee Turnpike north to Tulsa. Monty can steer you around Tulsa real easy. Once you get to 412, take the Cimmaron Turnpike west to I-35 then north to the 166 exit.

ME, the flying is easy. It's the landing that is a bit more difficult. BTW, there was some CW history around Baxter Springs, the Coffeville Raid with you know who, ;), there's some parks along the Caney River in Cedarvale, Sedan is known for Emmit the Clown and has a little park on the west side of the bridge if I remember correctly, there was dinosauer fossils found in the Silverdale rock quarry years ago, etc. Who knows, with all that you may never make it to CTH or back home for a while. LOL :D

Not unless I can keep a tight reign on Baldingboy, the man is a maniac when it comes to hunting. ;D

I wish I could get out as much as he does but the warden only lets me go one night a week with BB and that's it! I am staging a prison break just to get to the CTH. Don't be surprised if I get picked up by the local Sheriif on a warrant by the warden! :D :D ;D

Well let's see, it took me three months to arrange a temporary release from the warden and she is even now considering cancelling it. If she does, I already have a tunnel dug to the Kansas Border. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I don't think the others would appreciate postponing the hunt andI think BB would blow a gasket if he didn't get to go. :D ;D OK OK so it would be me that would be blowing the gasket. So I guess the answer is

NO!

I was able to get off early from work on Thursday so Tin Penny (Deena) and I will be heading north about 3pm which should put us in beautiful downtown South Haven Economy Inn about 9pm. That way we can sleep in Friday morning then head into town and roam around. We will see you at the Revue thingy. Can't wait to meet everyone in person. I will be looking for blue plaid!!

Have to leave my little huntin buddy at home so no dirty diaper ammo this trip.

Bill

Forgot to mention that they don't have regular runway lights there. They hire a 14 year old to collect cow patties and and lay them in a line. When a plane is inbound, he runs out and lights them. :D

stoney 56, I just found out about the CTH and I know registration is over but, I was wondering if I could come and watch? thanks
