All Treasure Hunting
I will start off with the good. Spent a couple hours yesterday and today at different beaches in Hawaii. I hit a number of clad coins. After hunting, my wife and I went into a bank to deposit a check. While leaving, I pointed out a “Coin Star” type machine and told her that I had just watched an “YouTube” video regarding folks picking up change in those machines. She was confused. I said in the change slot. Folks take their paper voucher after depositing their spare change and don’t look to see what has been rejected. To our surprise, sitting in the slot were the three foreign coins and clad beach penny that had been rejected. The “One Pence” is the last year before changing to “Two Pence”, I believe. The bank teller said it’s yours. Apparently Coin Star rejects foreign coins and tarnished clad coins. Lesson learned. When depositing coins, check to see if any coins have been rejected.

The Bad - Notice the sharp spikes picked up at the beach. I tossed broken glass and a rusted very sharp object at the beach trash bin.

The Ugly - The trash in the bag represents only a small fraction of trash picked up the last two days. I dumped as much if not more at the beach trash site.

It feels good to be part of a hobby where one can occasionally score a nice find and also help out with making beaches, parks, fields etc, just a little better for everyone.

Wow!! What a hunt! you were busy for sure! Nice recoveries!

Nice job
Although I have a difficult time thinking of beach hunting as anything but wonderful
Sun, sand, salt water.....

But glass and sharp metal are bad

Congrats on the nice hunt and cleaning up the beach! :occasion14:

Good job I think trash collector is 1/2 our job actually a little more. Good job!!!!!!

I see somebody's potato chips went stale. Nice finds, man!

Nice finds! Congrats! :icon_thumleft: Thank God there are garbage cans at the places I hunt! Most of what I find goes in the cans.

Nice finds, Congrats!!!

Great stuff, It's all treasure. You're good for the hobby, keep at it!!

I met KK a year ago in kona - he was indeed swimming a metal detector at the beach. Heck of a nice guy!

He loves hunting! He’s also pulled a silver coin or two from the beaches there, as well as some gold!

Congrats on the finds. Kudos for the cleanup. Tried to teach my nephews about cleaning up the areas we went to. Their initial comment was "that's not our trash" my reply was "when people mess an area up, it becomes everyone's trash, I'd rather pick it up than look at it."

Is that on this site? Thank you.

I feel the same way. In the scouts we say always leave the area better than it was when you arrived.

No trash cans where I detect most of the time so it comes home with me and I recycle everything that I can.

Good work Kona and the rest of you good folks out there who know the importance of being a good representative of our hobby.

Congrats on the hunt.

Hi, nice finds. Congrats:icon_thumleft:

All true! I was hunting a nice beach in Kona a year ago when I heard Coin Fetcher yelling up the beach. “Hey, how are you doing?” “I hunt as well.” I said, would you like to give it a swing? I thought his girl friend’s stare at me was priceless. She wanted to snorkel. CF grabbed my Quattro I was using at the time and within a few seconds he hit a wheat penny. Yes, I said it’s yours. Only met him on the beach for ten minutes or so but we have stayed in contact ever since, sharing each other’s finds. CF rocks. He is an accomplished hunter and has some incredible finds. One other reason this is such a great hobby. I’ve only met CF for ten minutes, but we will be life long “treasure hunter” friends.

Looks like it was a nice day to be near the water.
