I visited about 12 banks today. Yesterday was pretty good but today was MUCH better! I didn't find a mother lode like Penny, but it was a pretty good day.

Here are the goods.

1964 9 Kennedy 90%
1965 1 Kennedy 40%
1966 1 " "
1967 24 " "
1968 18 " "
1969 1 " "
and my favorite....
1949 Franklin in excellent condition

A very good day. Lots of the tellers were asking me why there are so many people coming in asking for half dollars. The competition is fierce out there....you have to be lucky!

Good luck searching

No kidding? It's that noticeable to them? Half searching can't be that new an idea. I wonder how much this site has contributed. Maybe silver's recent spike has something to do with it.

Great finds Bill! Considering your competition, your timing was right on!

Immy...several of the tellers told me that they have several guys a week asking them for halves. I think that the price of silver and this web site have something to do with the number of people searching halves. I'm a good example of that. I got my first metal detector for Christmas and then I found this site. Once I read the roll hunting part and gave it a try...I was hooked. Some of the rolls today had coins that were in such good shape that the silver just shined from the roll....what a great site!
I will be heading home tomorrow and there are a lot of small towns along the way...I'm hoping for some more good luck.
A side note. One of the banks near my house is going to start holding all half dollars for me rather then turning them in to the reserve. I will pick them up the first of every month. I have had great luck at this bank so this could be a really good thing.

Nice bank to hold 'em for you!

I was skunked on $100 yet again today. I think my casino's tapped out.

:o Whatcha' talkin' about Bill! ;D That's a GREAT load of silver to find, congratulations! I think you hit the nail right on the nose as to why so many people are now asking for halves. It's a combination of TNET and the increase in the price of silver. It's really difficult to find rolled halves that are being turned in; as soon as someone turns them in they are purchased immediately. I keep hearing tellers say the same exact thing, why are so many people asking for halves. lol
