Cru'Dad & I spent 2 hours finishing off 'The Hill' Site with no other significant finds. Before Cru'Dad left we moved to the nearby 'Track-way' area. This Roman (maybe earlier) track-way leads from a Roman Site we discovered, across the high ground & then up 'The Hill'.
In the past its produced a little of everything, other than Iron Age/Celtic. Strange because I have evidence of Neolithic/Bronze Age/Roman/Saxon/Viking/Medieval/Modern, so why did the Celtic people not use this area?

Me 4 hrs 45 minutes, Cru'Dad 3 hrs - Got wet for a change, rain might help break up the clay lumps...
I think this is going to be another long slog before something really good turns up, & if another day at it doesn't point towards better odds, then we might need to move on...

2 Livery Buttons, 1 17th C, 1 18th C.
Mystery Roman Iron/Bronze handle piece
Medieval Buckle
1.5 Jettons
2 Roman Coins
1931 Sixpence
Small piece of Saxon Brooch

The Celts may didn't used that trackway but it looks like a lot Livery buttons were lost there if i remember correctly.

From my experience Roman Roads & track-ways are not a good source of finds. So my conclusion is this was a 'very busy' track-way for a long time. But when did it fall out of use. Way before living memory, but probably in the mid-19th C. The modern finds are associated with a nearby but no longer existing Georgian/Victorian Farm knocked down in the mid-20th C.

Ps. Being heavy clay, it was not good farming for the Celts. However, its still early days, & some of the theories may change.....
