I notice that Kellyco is selling the Infinium with the 10x14 DD coil as standard.

Does anyone know if this operates as well as the mono coil in salt water, or do I need to buy the mono coil as well?

I was told that the Mono coil was the better of the two. Ron Lord uses it.

I've heard the same thing, but I never got a mono coil for mine. You could ask John-Edmonton. He's very knowledgeable about Garretts.

The infinium mono and DD handle salt just fine, The mono is a quite a bit more sensitive .
The 5 x10 DD is a nice beach (quieter and smoother) coil but donot take it in the water more than a few feet deep.(ditto the 3 x 7)
The mono is waterproof and the 8 inch mono is a great coil for coins and jewelery. the 10 x 14 mono goes deeper than the 8 inch on larger than coin size items.

Smudge,

If you get an Infinium, and are going to beach hunt with it, get the 10x14 mono and don't look back.

New here so hang with me.

Is the Infinium worth it for submersed operation? Atlantic generally about 30 feet. I'm looking for a hybrid.

Good for the beach, surf and submerged. I know what the product literature says but what do YOU as owners
have to report.

If you dont want to spend the extra bucks or you arent going to prospect or relic hunt..then I would get a Garrett Sea Hunter instead. Its about 95% as deep as the infinium in the surf and diving.

Thank you Alan.

Other opinions welcome. I'm using a Sea Hunter tmrw for a treasure expedition in 12 feet in the Intracoastal.

Some lost treasure from a yachtie. Oooops too much wine and you may lose your diamond. Though I will
return it to them.

The Sea Hunter is fine and much easier to use than the Infinium in saltwater. The Infinium will handle iron mineralisation better than the Sea Hunter. So, if your ground is not iron mineralised then go with the Sea Hunter.
