The MD Gods are playin' games with AP's head............

Havent been out for a couple weeks due to the ungodly heat...........80 degrees & overcast today so me & the Queen hit the oldest park in town today. Now, the only decent find ive had in this park is a nice sterling ring but no silver coins, I believe the park was resodded a few years back. I keep going back thinking I'll find that one silver coin............Im at the edge of the park swingin under some large bushes when I get a solid coin hit at 4-5 inches. Hard to get to but I dig & pull up this large coin, about the size of a 50 cent piece! My heart starts beating. Its very dirty, the ground is kind of muddy & sticky so I start rubbing the crap off it and it has a gold tone to it. I look closer & see this weird eagle on it & I cant tell you what was going through my pinhead at this moment! My heart starts racing! I rub it some more & flip the coin in my fingers, rub the other side & look..................NO CASH VALUE!!! OMG! My heart starts to break. At this point I can hear the Gods laughing at me. GRRRRRRRRR!!! Im starting to lean towards Atheism. Otherwise, found about $2 in clad, a key (love finding keys, got a nice collection going) and a kitchen fork. Im never going back to this park again, my heart cant take this!

lol.....i got a nice collection of keys going too, including a huge set of keys ll found in the same hole, single. It was if some some puposfly buried them in the sandbox. Well, anyways, great finds and....

What you have there is a worthless kids game token. Its worth exactly as it says (no cash value). I used to use those. Never again.

I've found two of those but I knew they were tokens so I was disappointed. However, when I dug up a small gold colored coin this summer I got really, really excited and thought OMG. Turns out is was a nickle from Singapore.
LOL Oh well, it fooled me,but I added it to my foreign coin collection.

Don't ya just hate it when that happens? Been there many times.

A while back I dug this big coin I just knew was a large cent. Got home and found out it was a very old round copper disc of some sort.

Years ago I dug an old gold colored pocket watch that at first I thought was a double eagle. I was so disappointed I threw it into a drawer where it stayed for several years. Finally I threw it away. Not 6 months later I was told that Rolex watches are very valuable. I felt sick all over--that was the name engraved on the face of the watch I threw away!

Even in junk condition that early Rolex pocket watch was probably worth as much as a double eagle to a watch collector.

Keep swinging my friend...we're all in this together.

Well, I don't think many missed me but I held out as long as I could. I figured I'd focus more on business by leaving but found mayself constantly coming here so I figured I'd might as well come back.

And too, even Marc wanted me to stay. I thought the good man would be glad to have me out of his hair.

AP, that is funny only cause I can relate. I have found one of those tokens yet it was only an inch or so deep so I was not fooled for a second(well maybe a few). I have had it go the other way though....I found an 1863 civil war token that when I first saw it thought it was some junk thing - rang up like a zinc penny and was only a couple inches deep. Later I cleaned it and was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes the gods are good and sometimes they are cruel.
