Well, as no doubt you have read, Mastereagle and I went out last night for a hunt on property owned by my brother. He purchased the following house and lot right behind his store in town. There is a rich history around this area and we were hopeful that this would not be another slow night. Here is where we hunted:

To quote Mastereagle in the next part of the story:
How convenient, he makes me detect the little strip of grass betweent the street and sidewalk and then he heads straight for a tree on a place he arranged for us to hunt and finds an old coin.

Actually, what happened, is he was in such a hurry to detect that he starts right out by the street and then cries when I find a good coin. I started swinging and thinking I should cover some ground and see if anything jumps out at me since he keeps telling me his Explorer will be finding gold rings on peoples hands in China...so I decided not to let any grass grow on me searching. When I found the coin I did something that Mastereagle didn't do with his silver coins. I WAS CAREFUL WITH IT! That is why I was (as he put it) cradling it like a baby. As can be seen from the pictures, it has some honest wear, but nothing more. I could hardley get Mastereagle to quit dancing to all the funky music his Explorer was pumping out, long enough to take these picture of me. Let me attach some pictures of the moment I will not soon forget! I hope everyone gets to experience something like this in their detecting hunts. What a rush finding an 1890 Centavo M (The coin is a little wet in some pictures from the tears Mastereagle shed when he saw it).

We both had a great hunt even though I only found 2 keeper coins and Mastereagle found 4 silver and 3 old wheats. Usually we don't find that many good coins in one place. I must say though, we worked darn hard in the heat until close to 11pm. We started hunting right after work too.

Just to set the record straight on a few things:

Mastereagle says: I dig a small hole and flip the plug over and there in the plug lays the holy grail of my quest!!! You guessed it I got my funny dime with the lady and the wings!!! 1945!!!!
What really happened was:I dug the hole for him after pinpointing it's exact location with my Whites. I tell him it's 2" deep right outside the hole we just dug. I start digging and he almost looses a hand when he says, "There it is" and grabs it.

Mastereagle says:the beast growls that same high pitch sweet tone we had heard
What really happened was: this 'big goose of a detector' honks like Pinocchio with a sinus infection. I am not kidding...people were sending their kids inside!

All in all, we had a terrific time and we learned more about our detectors. I do want to go on record saying I am slamming Mastereagle before he slams me, but I truly enjoy our little forays detecting. Thanks for the 57 Rosie bro....

Man Da-nile aint just a river in Egypt. You need to see your doctor soon buddy cause you are D-lose-ya-nal!!! ;D

Again a misrepresentation by Baldingboy, I think the sun is getting to you guy, you better start wearing a hat. :D You are the one that asked me where the China button was on the Beast. I told you it didn't have one but it does have a "to the center of the earth" one. ;D ;D ;D

Actually you were so shocked that your pretty little XLT actually found something beside a Clad quarter you couldn't believe it.

"Honest wear" Is that what you call it when you dig up a bought coin you buried? ??? ??? ;)

I could hardley get Mastereagle to quit dancing to all the funky music his Explorer was pumping out, long enough to take these picture of me.

A dudes gotta do what a dudes gotta do, and right then I had to DANCE with the Beast.

Again not true buddy. You know as well as I the coin is wet because you had it in your pants pocket when you wet yourself, over the shock of finding something. :D

Wife still thinks we were at a bar somewhere chatting up some honeys...

Man were you even at the same place I was?? I "let" you come over and wave your little fairy stick over my silver coin to try and make you feel better about owning an XLT!!! But to be honest you do make a FINE pinpointer for the Explorer II!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
And you know darn good and well that you did not help me dig the Merc, you helped with the other coin but we'll get to that in a second. I guess I am going to have to start video taping our hunts.

Mastereagle says:the beast growls that same high pitch sweet tone we had heard

Hey maybe thats why that darn goose followed me all over the yard last night it was trying to mate with the Beast.

All in all, we had a terrific time and we learned more about our detectors. I do want to go on record saying I am slamming Mastereagle before he slams me, but I truly enjoy our little forays detecting. Thanks for the 57 Rosie bro....

And I want to go on the record saying that even though you were the one helping me dig the hole on the Florin and my Lesche was 6 feet from the hole when it was recovered, it really stinks that I scratched that coin. ;D ;D ;D

And now to be serious for a moment. I would NEVER have found anything last night let alone silver, no matter how good the Beast is, if it wasn't for Baldingboy letting me go and hunt with him. He is as true a friend as anyone could ever want. We both rejoiced in the hunt and the finds. I regret that I can only give him the 57 rosie as my was of saying thank you for such a memorable time and hunt. And before you ask BB... NO you cannot have my Merc or Florin!!!
Can't wait for the next hunt and I really can't wait for CTH!!!!!!!!

Great job on the Centavo!

You guys make a great team! When you hunt with someone else, in the long run, you both find much more!

Congratulations!

Ridley

JCH,
Yeah, it is nice reading about things from the detectorists perspective. The good thing about reading it here versus Mastereagles post, is that you get the bonus of hearing the truth!

treasureguy,
Yeah, we wear headlights....and tons of Deep Woods OFF with 100% Deet. :P

Ridley,
Yeah, we do make a good team. Mastereagle is a great guy and probably the only one crazy enough to accompany me on these adventures! He is a good egg!

you guys are a hoot! It'll be fun to see you both in action in KS. Heaven help us...

Nifty, nifty finds! Keep on keepin' on - make sure you have plenty of water with you, you had to be nuts to be huntin' in this heat! geez..

HH
Nan

I carry a two gallon Jug of water and plastic cups, set my timer for 30 mins and MAKE BB stop and drink at least a glass with me. Yeah go ahead and laugh, at least we can hunt in 100 degree weather and not get heat stroked!! :D

Those Explorers are a b*tch to pinpoint with...or, so I have heard. :D It takes a White's to tidy up the place. ;) :D

Nice finds, dudes!

YEah we both have headlights we wear and both our machines have backlights, not that BB needs it because he passed right over the 51 rosie I found!! And no he didn't "leave it there for me to find, because when I heard the sweet tone of silver coming from the Beast his XLT told him it was the hubcab to a 51 Chevy! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nice finds, dudes!

You will get NO argument from me about the pinpointing. But then again when you have a coil the size of a small planet what can you expect?? :D

Beside when you have as nice a pinpointer as the XLT makes why do you need to worry about it? ;D :D

Sounds like a great hunt. You sound like me and my buddies when we hunt. Way to go and keep em coming!
