The Perseid's are on the way!

This is the favorite time of the year for those who enjoy getting out
and watching meteors (many becoming meteorites) as they slash
through our atmosphere.

Once again the Earth is passing through the tail end of Comet Swift-Tuttle,
and on Sunday and Monday nights there is expected to be a good amount
of meteor activity.

They call them Perseid Meteors as they seem to come from the direction of
the constellation Perseus, but that is simply a coincidence of timing. The
meteors are actually bits and pieces of the dust trail left behind from
the comet.

If you want the best view, drive to a dark area if possible..void no streetlights,
and limited city lights, if any. The Constellation Perseus will be moving from
NE to the East. The attached image shows where Perseus is (note N and E
at map bottom. I've also highlighted a superb bino target, The Pleiades. It's
considered as a "star nursery", and with bono's you can see that the "7 Sisters"
are absolutely gorgeous.

Enjoy!
