The Suwanee

We have access to acreage on the suwanee at fiwler's bluff. This year we are starting to seriously work the first ten acres. Of three thousand.

These area few of the forty pieces of pottery we found in a few hours scratching leaves out of the way. We will be diving 800' of private beach and the 18' limestone wall into the river this winter and all year. 40 acres will be eventually graded three feet down on most of it. All nice trees will be left and the property planted only with natives. The work us to investigate what and who lived there for the past 12,000 years. But we already knew the site was very rich. It is very private and very protected, so off limits to the works but for family. And it has been theirs for 180 years.

You meant fowlers bluff? I've already dove alot of that area from the boat ramp to the island down stream. Lots of modern trash on the dixie county side the otherside ( northside)has lots of craggy ledges with some nice gravel pockets, very karsty, lots of fossils and beer cans and bottles, good luck , look foward to seeing your finds!

My iPhone says fowler if I use my tiny hand . And we are going to shoot video because of the quality of the finds we have already had. I will be putting up images of G10 stuff that has turned up on the property. We just anticipate that scraping three feet of that surface will show a great deal of Florida's history.

Are you associated with Norman Scott of Global Explorations? That's the latest treasure hunting effort that I know of at the Bluff.

I suspect that the stretch at Fowler's Bluff has been dived hard because of the accessibility and the pirate treasure stories. I know that I never found much that was very close to the ramp. I did, however, encounter my first and only alligator underwater right there near the bend of the river.

There are two properties, actually, owned by the same family that are on the water, and four others across from and behind the spring. And they have property as well next to the golf course in chiefland. It is a famed treasure hunting region, and I personally have seen gold coin found in those woods. But our treasure is stone tools and artifacts and property. But treasure hunting is exactly what we see ourselves doing.

I am collecting. The family is selling through me and another friend of mine who is a serious dealer of southern artifacts. I get half for managing the search and the camp. And the cash. We are bringing in mud pumps in the fall. For the rest of this winter and through the heat of summer, we are scraping the ground. But there were French pirates living in a village very close to one of the properties for a hundred years. And they buried stuff.

A mastodon fossil worth a million dollars and sold for a million dollars within a week of it being found was found dug up next door to the properly and that guy said "yeh, you can have arrowheads. I don't care about a arrowheads." So I think I found a good place to play archeologist. And if you do not live in that stretch of river, you cannot just walk around the roads for all that long without attracting somebody's attention. And somebody there carries shotguns and handguns in case they drop one shooting you.

Sorry I did not answer the question. No. A friend,of mine owns a gold,hunting company here in Tampa that has,done very well over the years wreck diving. But He cares nothing for,stone. They own a company called Odyssey Salvage or something like that. They have made some really outstanding finds.. But I know who you mean. We have not touched this ground and we have no fame but a fishing web site . I am just an artifact hound that has known about the property all my life but never had a season to give to it. Now I do.

I actually am going to invite people I have met here once we get the camp established. It is a serious event. It is going to be summer seasonal mostly because the owners are school teachers. I have private access all the time, but only alone. I do have permissions to bring in volunteers when I need them, and a few of you are relatively close to the site. But it is the boonies, and the campsite will suit only six. In three different permanent tents. We have to be respectful for surrounding homes, but we know everybody and we are taking about the smallest lot being 10 acres. Those of you that dove there would not it, but it is the other direction from the marina. One is close to the treasure ramp, and one is further away. The area is amazing. Chiefland is where Jackson's troops murdered God knows how many natives. He later passed the "relocation act" which basically said push them into the swamps and kill them there. There are sites there that we leave alone, too. Scary and dark energy sites. More than you care to encounter.

You should know that anything that is posted here is public, the fact that you mentioned $ and artifacts together is concerning. And it seems to be all about the money,And that is sad! And now that you have announced on the internet which is viewed by all I'm sure the arch's will be giving you a visit if not the dep and the epa.It does'nt matter if its private property or not, Good luck.

I never sell anything I find. Ever. These people have 5,000 things they found in the centuries they owned it. So what we sell us legit. And I may buy it all.

What I helped them to move is stuff found long ago. And there are two colleges involved. I am old but far from stupid my friend

So no idea but I do know the [/FONT]Central States Archaeological Societies shows in Florida took a nose dive just after these busts, and were virtually nill for a while.

This (2013) was also about the same time as the big bust out west.

I would be very surprised if it went off without an issue.

One thing for sure, 193,000 cubic yards of excavation is a major undertaking even when your not treating it like an arch dig. How do you even detect that much material for buried treasure??! Sounded like it was a subdivision, how do you hire a contractor willing to slow down everytime there are arrowheads to be found or to metal detect between passes?
Sounds more like permission was granted to wander around after hours and see what was exposed. Google Earth would show development if it happened.
