We had a day this month under 100 degrees at our camp... Just one and it was 97. I've been diggin in some pretty dry conditions. It was 105 yesterday and it will be even hotter today. The mound just keeps giving up nice stones. Hard to stay away. This is some of what has been uncovered at our camp here in central Texas over the last couple of weeks. Enjoy.

Those are some really nice finds, look's like you have a good spot.

Very nice group of artifacts. I'm glad to see you're being rewarded for your time and effort in that blistering Texas heat. I've noticed alot of peeps hang it up when the hot weather rolls in, it's good to see others going after it in august. "To the victor belong the spoils". I'm looking foward to seeing what else comes out of your mound / midden, good luck bro.

pretty nice artifacts!
just curious does that shovel break any artifacts?
or what do you use to break the dirt loose?
do you use a fork?
just wondering, don't know how you are digging that area?

Great Artifacts!! Looks like that hole is going to get a lot bigger from your finds. Thanks for the dig post/pics!

Thank Y'all. Steve, in answer to your questions; we only use the shovel on the back dirt that escapes the mat you can't dig in that wall with a shovel at all. We use a wiggle pick or full size pick axe to bust the dirt out and drag it out with a mat. The shovels were mainly left in those picts so folks can get an idea of the size of the occupation level and the height of the wall.

thanks krisrock,
i see what you mean

Great finds!!!! If ya ever need any help let me know......I will be happy to pull dirt.....lol

First.....nice points kris, I saw them on another board. I only get out in the early mornings because of the heat....glad to see some folks are tougher than me.....What was that line from Kipling...."only maddogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun"....lol

I think Your right Goat ! If ya ask my wife after a dig like this mornin (home empty handed) by 1:00 pm. I am the mad English man for a good couple of hours or until the Barley pops start to soak in. :laughing9: That heat can take it out of ya. Fortunately that's not all it takes out of ya, I think I'm going down a size in my waist... and I can fit back into jeans I haven't worn in years. :dontknow:
Thanks for the kind words bud. Kris
