While I was enjoying a stay at John Redman's in Orlando during the cookout he showed me a book which had the following information in it . : The Bahama's : 1815 , the ship Barcelona , Spanish , sailing from Havana , 100.000 pesos , wrecked January 6 , 2-3 miles North of West End ( Woods cay area ) .........In the same area . the ship La Juncta , Spanish , 175.000 pesos of treasure , unsalvaged Go get it now that the laws are relaxed in the Bahama's . Well, as tantalizing as that sounds, I doubt many people have the freedom to chase down treasure leads or the 10's of thousands in cash to mount an expedition, or the hundreds of thousands in needed equipment.

Merry Christmas Aquanut, and everyone else....
Johnny don't forget me...keep me on the back burner ...I'm there for ya if ya need me...almost done with school, and would be happy to help ya in any way that I could. Went out to green key today, water was so low I could have walked out a couple hundred yards...will do a more thorough look into the stuff we talked about and try to get acclimated to that map and the directions you mentioned in your message from months ago...there is definitely some old activity in that area, lots of rumors about stuff found but that's about it, rumors...will be more active in hunting when I finish up classes in may.

Hello Cornelis

As always a wealth of information.

Merry xmas and patience my friend it is Christmas and not everyone lives and breaths shipwrecks so much as you.

It would be nice to chase down those shipwrecks. It as you are well aware takes time and money.

Very few have time and money.

I have a much more profitable project taking my time these days and it is just too hard to move resources from one part of the world to another.

However I am sure there could be some interesting oportunities developing there.

Thanks as always for your very interesting leads.

Bonnie . What hurts me more than anything is that this forum is going to pot . What is happening is that it is take over by people just writing about what they read in the newspapers instead of writing about their research , wreckdiving , new wreckdiscoveries , etc etc . Who cares for a bar you want to open , or who wants to dive on my claim and handing me every coin you find ( I will even pay for the beans you eat as long as you dive for free thinking you are part of a treasure hunt ) . Well in general Bonnie , there are so few of us old pirates left and so many of arm-chair romentics it hurts me . Cornelius

Cornelius, this forum has not been taken over by anyone.

Shipwreck and Treasure hunting is an all-encompassing pastime/occupation and includes everything from the initial research through to socialising about it afterwards, so everyone involved in any aspect or at any level is free to talk on here about any of this as they wish.

Due to the current laws you are not going to get many coming on here trumpeting there latest finds or publishing where or what they are doing, as it would not take long before the fun Police would be breathing down their necks.

If there is any individual post you are not interested in, all you have to do is dont click on it.

Unfortunately times have changed and the fun and excitement that we had for so many years will never be the same again, but those who are determined to jump through the many hoops the governments put in the way can still have a great time, or they can (as is happening a lot) just get on with the wreck and say nothing to anyone, especially on public forums like this.

Keep up your posting as many are interested in what you post even if they don’t reply.

I have read your post and the follow ups...
It will take "old pirates" like you to help fuel the next generation of pirates.
With the wealth of info you have...take us "all" back to your days as an "young pirate" by sharing some your actual treasure hunting adventures.
Tell us about your actual treasure hunting days back when it was less complicated, and show us some of the bounty...you must have some incredible stories and photos of your actual treasures hunting days to share with us? We all have desire to seek these adventures, but not all have the resources at our hands to take on such adventures that have both risk and reward.
So please share in your successes when you were that young pirate.

Cornelius..

you noticed I suppose I posted then deleted... guess I just figured who needs any more commentary on the politics, on the world, any more viewpoints...

you are trying to keep to the point: the research, the hunt, the find, the methods. I have been much encouraged by the
enthusiasm and the camaraderie on Tnet - sometimes it is friendship that is the "backing" we all need - I grew up with dead reckoning for navigation and Mom always taught me "run your time" - don't start doubting and fiddling with your course. It is the last bit of time before picking up land that is the hardest, and if we can encourage each other to stay on course then maybe that is something.

Happy New Year my friend ...may I too be able to stick to the course

Bonnie

so will I

Treasure hunting as never easy. It was not easy in Phip's time. It was not easy in Mel Fisher's time.

Today we have so much more resources available and still it is as difficult as ever.

As difficult as ever.

It is an occupation only for the ones with real guts. As it always was.

Hi Everybody!
Some of you know Cornelius, some don't. Some understand where he's coming from and some don't. I invited him to stay with me and my wife for a couple of weeks which he did last Spring. My wife had read some of his posts here and was apprehensive about some mean and grumpy old goat being here for two weeks. Well, I have to tell you, he's nothing like the grumpy old man he presents himself to be on Tnet. He's the very best gentleman my wife and I ever had the pleasure of having as our guest for any length of time. Actually there were times we felt as though we were guests of his... My wife and I were sad to see him leave and Debbie said that the next time he visits he should just stay! Cornelius in person is a "gentle man" not the tyrant he manages to present himself at times when he posts his challenging remarks. I rather think his purpose is to promote a response, although he does get a little defensive at times. I hope you guys don't get so offended by his very direct statements and simply enjoy his input. Don't take his comments personally and you'll benefit in the long run.

Grubby semds his Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you Corney and Aqua. It's to bad some of those out there do not understand where you come from, It took him a while to understand the wealth of knowledge and experience you have. Grubby did a dive not to long ago and as usual pulled lots of coins. He will be in Africa running two 8 in. dredges soon. Diamonds and gold have begun to glisten in his dreams. He got his fill of Key West and the silly politics. Made some friends and left some enemies, but that's what happens in life. To his friends he sends his best wishes to the others he hopes they run out of air.
