"These are already ran through" + Finds anyhow

Friday I went to some semi-nearby banks for the first time to see what I could find.

One of the banks was funny - The teller had a small pile of 50 cent pieces and I saw a silver, so I knew it wasn't a skunk. I asked if she could see if any other tellers had any. A nearby teller (mostly out of my hearing range, due to the thick plexiglass separating customers from tellers) answered in the affirmative, but her caution "they're already ran through" was relayed to me by the teller.

I played dumb, so my teller told the other "he doesn't know what that means." I figured they had been searched, but since I saw a silver Kennedy in front of me, I figured there was a chance they had something.

Anyhow, they turned out to be a dozen sloppily re-closed Strings rolls, and sure enough, "already ran through." I just thought it was funny that they were so blatant about it and yet didn't come outright and say what they meant.

Another nearby bank - another branch of the same chain, I believe - did much better for me. A couple of the CWRs I got there yielded a total of 11 40-percenters!

I actually turned down their offer to sell me a full new box ... I had just gotten my weekly box from my local bank, and I can't do that much volume. Though I might just go back later; after reading "BofA has no more halves" http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,428644.0.html I realized I might get better luck from another source.

since when do banks have thick plexiglass between customers and tellers? does your bank have a security guard as well?

In my area, banks are a peaceful place, teller to customer talk, no plexiglass, nothing between the teller and you except a 3-4 foot tall wall for a counter. Also, no security guards either.

I live in an urban area, and it really depends. Some clusters of banks are as you describe; others remind me of visiting an inmate in a prison.

Guards - kind of depends. Usually the prison-ish ones also have a guard, inside or outside.

Many of the "peaceful" banks often have somebody acting as a greeter, which is probably a crime deterrent, if I recall from hearing about them in retail.
