Thin brass plate with eagle?

Found this at a 1700's homestead about 5 inches down. It is made out of thin brass and is folded over. I was thinking it was a plate to a drawer pull but I'm not sure. Any ideas?? Rich.

The artwork places it in the 18 century IMO.

Looks like a drawer pull went in the holes. So a drawer pull plate.(maybe)

Im not sure what it is, richm, and Im no expert for sure, but it looks like a late 1700's eagle ...I bet it has 13 stars.

Looks like the spacing would match 13, if it were not broken.

Did they make 18th C patriotic furniture, as this is my best guess. Maybe a Rev War Campaign piece

No, but the style of eagle looks very old to me. Ive seen it somewhere before but cant remember. Maybe on an old button.
