We had a tornado today, 5 miles from my home, very unusal for Oregon

i'm just glad it was a minor tornado and there were no serious injuries....tornados EF2 and higher are quite rare in ORegon....only 4 or 5 have been recorded.

Good pic. Tornadoes can happen anywhere. I grew up in tornado alley. You get a real healthy respect for Mother Nature after you see what one can do. Hope that's the only one you ever get. And Packerbacker, tornadoes are what make mobile homes mobile.

WOW!!! I used to live on Lancaster Ave, about 10 years ago. Worked at the
Salem Rescue Mission as a Chaplain/counselor, while I was finishing school.
NEVER SAW ONE OF THOSE, THANK HEAVENS. Did it get into the city?

Back in the seventies, while on the PD, I used a large wall map of Manatee and Sarasota counties in Florida to kept track of tornados for a couple of years. (Hobby project.) I found that they would "touch-down" in a trailer park, then lift back up, only to touch-down in another trailer park a quarter mile to a mile away.

I often wondered if aluminum was the attractant. Aluminum is not a natural occuring metal. It is extracted from clay by using high voltages. I've also noticed that commercial building with aluminum roofs tend to get hit by tornados also. Something to think about.

I lived in Ft. Rucker, Alabama....and did a stint in Ft. Benning, Georgia.
Don't want to see any more......just reading about them brings back some very bad memories.

In my part of the country, (Tornado alley), the old timers used to have storm cellars, now the younger generation are getting away from that, they need to reconsider.
