Only one decent target dug in 4 hours, but man I'm glad we stuck it out! This has been in my wish list for years. Now to find an even better example. 1790s New Brunswick Provincials button. This militia was formed to protect the province after the end of the Rev War.

What a great find! The longer I've been detecting, the more I've come to appreciate buttons, and all they represent. Congrats on recovering a very nice bit of history.

Great find! Congrats!

Good looking button, congrats

I'm curious who they were protecting the province from? The Americans? Surely not the British. Hmmm? Gary

Beautiful looking New Brunswick Provincials button my friend!
I've always said, "I'm more then happy to detect for 4 hours if I can only find one button." :laughing7:

Congrats on a great button. It is a good thing you stayed a little longer and found it.

Basically french privateers from New York and Spanish privateers. They helped to protect the coastline and river inlets during the 1790s and were made up of half pay soldiers from the Rev War.

Great find. Definitely worth the wait. Lots of interesting history behind that recovery. :headbang:
