When you can't produce a productive counter argument, all you do is attack "X" person/group, etc. Take a look at this List of members of the Forbes 400 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Which one of these people is a lawyer or an entertainer?

Of course you would try to obfuscate the legitimate argument at the beginning of the thread and latch on to the attack by the anti-constitutionalists as being great.

Which one of these people ARE Lawyers? The president, majority of house members and the majority of senate members for starters. Now you know why things are so screwed up everywhere and nothing can get done. It's all a game to them.

I would sure feel safer today if I was a New Yorker. Now, if someone has a gun capable of 10 rounds they will be guilty of a crime if they put more than 7 in it. I'm sure a nutjob off to commit a crime will take that into consideration while loading his weapon. What a lark!!! If the lawmakers tell me I'm safer now, and I get shot anyway, can I sue the lawmakers? Aren't I guaranteed "Equal protection under the law?" Chug and Red. I have a cure for your smoking habit. Besides being able to sue the tobacco industry when a respiratory disease sets in, you can probably sue the lawmakers themselves. They should have passed a law allowing only 10 cigarettes per pack instead of the 20 they now have. Wouldn't THAT reduce the number of cigarettes smoked? Apparently the warning the government makes them put on every pack isn't enough of a deterrent; it should be on every butt. Now, to curb drunk driving I feel that we should only sell beer in 4-packs and no longer allow beer to be bought in 6-packs or larger. THERE YA GO!!! Now, if you already have say a keg at home, it will have to be registered. If you are caught drinking over 4 beers in any given day, you will be thrown in the slammer. jk to make a point. To cure overeating I propose smaller plates. No longer can you use the standard size dinner plate. Now, a cure for stupidity. I'm still working on that one. Packerbacker: I respect you and your opinions. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the "nutjobs" you are referring to are just the mass murderers. Furthermore, I am going to take your post seriously and respond to that aspect.
1. Medications are not helpful for and do not prevent mass murders or murderers. Mass murderers have a personality disorder...just like many on this forum. It is a much, much, more severe personality disorder. Medications DO NOT treat personality disorders.
2. Therapy can potentially be helpful for personality disorders, if the pt. is willing to change. However, in my opinion, once somebody gets to the serial murderer level there is no hope for them. Lock them up forever or execute them (depending on which state they are in.)
3. Medications and therapy are very helpful to help people born with genetic, chemical imbalances and suffer from mental illness. I assure you they have been "life savers" for people you know, respect, and love.
4. Guinness is usually only sold in packs of four so I am all good on that one.

Yes Cris..........those are the same nutjobs. I don't think any here are nutjobs to the extent of which I speak.
I'm somewhat familiar with mental illness as a close family member worked for the county mental health office. I'm also familiar with some of the meds these people are on and, if they take their meds, all is fine. Some DON"T!
Does anyone really think the gun mfg. should be held liable if a gun is misused? Will limiting magazine capacity stop anything? Might slow it down for a matter of a few seconds maybe. Is a gun with a pistol grip more dangerous than the same gun without one? Do gun free zones stop guns from coming in? Does having fingerprints of legal gun owners help anything? Does a 10-day waiting period to get a gun stop any crimes? Could a legally armed person in a school stop a mass shooting like the last one? Which question did you answer "yes" to?

Crispin, so far I have only seen a few real thought out responses/arguments from a handful of people (you included). When you've got people posting things like "Obama hates America", what can be said, really? I appreciate the fact that you are trying to educate but sadly it will be in vain. The respect you have for others' opinions will not be reciprocol and when you've got people spewing closed minded hateful speech, educating people will be fruitless.

Speaking of the Warren Court its interpretation of the Constitution during the Civil Rights movement, Obama said, "It wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution. At least as it's been interpreted and more important interpreted in the same way that, generally, the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties; says what the states can't do to you, what the federal government can't do to you, but it doesn't say what the state government or federal government must do on your behalf."

Hope for the sake of peace exactly what he said: That "The Constitution . . . says . . . what the federal government can't do to you".

Diagnostic Statistics Manual. It is currently in its fourth version, revised. The next one will be the fifth. Basically, it is a book with a lot of information on mental illness and suggestions and guidelines for how to diagnosis them. A lot of people consider it to be the "bible" of mental illness. I think that is a tragic mistake. It is necessary and helpful but far from inclusive, scientific, and dogmatic.

I was thinking a lot while reading this. I've "always" been of mind that its people who kill and not the guns.
If they want to start going after mfrs and gun owners whose guns were used in crimes. Then what happens when we're at war with other countries? Do the citizens then have a right to sue the gun mfrs who made the gun that killed/injured their family member?
It doesn't matter how many bullets a gun has. One bullet kills. I just wish the nut jobs would take the one bullet on themselves instead of others.
Any normal person can buy a gun. Unfortunately he/she can have a momentary lapse of common sense, and take their gun and use it inappropriately. Hopefully the gun is registered to them. Otherwise the registered owner could go to jail for murder/manslaughter.
I myself do think that "we" have the right to defend ourselves and truly dislike the fact that they want to limit how we can do that. The fact that they want to put the blame on everybody, including the user (in the crime), is insane! It's the individual who used the gun, hammer, baseball bat, etc, etc.

This is my first time voicing in one of these threads and so as I read it, I had to reply. Sorry for the essay. Lol. Lots of interesting points in here. Even from those who want to control the guns. I'm just not one of them. . I believe you treat others as you'd want to be treated. The real reason they want to take away the second has nothing to do with preventing gun violence. That is just a reason they are exploiting to get what the want. They want to take every freedom you have and have govt. In charge of everything, along with the U.N.

That's exactly what I had to tell my younger kids who wanted to vote for him. I had to explain socialism to them. Since the schools seem to preach its the better way. I mean why not have everything for free. Right? They just don't explain the sacrifices that you as a civilian have to make. I've talked to several people from Poland and Germany as well as Russia. They always tell me we are only a step away from communistic rule. It seems that if our youth isn't taught the truth about where the government is going , and get the youth to change their minds about working for something instead of expecting it. Then they've already won. I constantly have to remind the kids about this. Ughhhhhh!
So much has to change and yet so many people won't let it happen because it involves a little (a lot) of work.

Things seem pretty messed in the good ol' USA, but that's how things have always been. Look back through history, there have always been domestic conflicts, frivolous lawsuits, freedoms taken away etc.

The one thing that stays the same, is who profits off the conflicts of the working man. LAWYERS, pencil pushing, over charging, never did a lick of work in their life, lying, stealing, LAWYERS. Of course there are exceptions, some lawyers must be ok.....I'm sure......somewhere..........
