good guess Icewing. I believe the "waffle" like grid represents a "magic square" like this one(see image) Used by anceint peoples to refer to different mathematical dimension=perspectives. Kamea_mars_numbers.png

The color maybe "blue silver" but I highly doubt it's made of silver. It looks like anodized aluminum from here.

*at the time of this posting only the images of a bright blue waffle ring were in the original post*
