Here are my recoveries cleaned up from the hunt that my hunting partner and me made this weekend. This was the first time either of us had ever been on this new site that we had just gained permission to hunt.

Great video site ,,, thanks for sharing .... Guzz1

God what I'd do to find a site like that. Congrats ;D ;D ;D

mudslideslim,

Incredibly, today I found what looks identical to what you found. The badge is 1 1/4 inch high and 1 inch wide. I found mine in a central Delaware HS sports field which may have been an old homesite a long time ago. Mine dosent appear to be military related. Have you found any more info on yours? I may post mine on the WHAT IS IT Forum.

Pete

Good Golly, How do you leave a site like that. I'd be pullin' out the night lights :o :D

Uh...WOW! Looks like you have yourself an awesome site! Great digs!

Nice finds Slim
How was that crest badge described on the CW site?
'cos Yeasty's badge is a very similar shape and seems to have an engraved 'fleur de lis' on it.

Cheers, Mike

Think i would be packing my tent with the MD and staying awhile. Nice finds.HH

Wow, you got a great place there. looks like your going to pull some good relics out of there. Here buckle buckle buckle! Come to Daddy! ;D :o :o :o :o

The blank brass shield could either have been left blank & polished up or lost before someone marked it.

Nice finds! Keep on that site you never know what you'll uncover in the areas. The badge or shield could possibly by a insignia piece but the McCellen (sp) saddles also had a brass shield on them with a number in the middle. For example the number 11 would indicated an 11 inch saddle. I can't say your piece is either but I thought I'd toss out the brass saddle tag information in case it might be of some help or interest to you.
Good luck with the site.

Now that's what I'm talking about.I'm leaning more toward a saddle shield as well.Excellent dig's and on the first visit out....Can't wait to see the return trip find's.Gotta love it....Thank's and HH!!

Thank y'all - on the shield

the reference book that i have has a pic of one with the plume or fleur de lis on it just like the other one pictured below. they refer to it as a fleur de lis but from the looks of it i think its a plume. anyway they don't say much other than its a badge sometimes found at Civil War encampments. thanks for all of your insights on it.
