This weekends finds - unlisted militia button, scale weight, and.....

I have been hunting this field for almost 20 years and have found well over 250 buttons, with at least a dozen of them military. Up until 3 years ago it was a cow pasture. Then 3 years ago a new farmer took over and no till planted corn and beans. I've been hoping he would plow some day and he finally did. Didn't get the results I was hoping for, but I was happy with the unlisted cuff size militia button and the scale weight. It weighs 5.85 grams and 90.2 grains. I don't know much about these, if anyone has any info on time frame and use, please let me know.






Here is the militia button. It is not in Albert's or Tice's button books. No back mark as far as I can tell.

This site is not nearly that old, but it is almost identical to some in Bill Dancy's Colonial Virginia Artifact book.

Nice bunch of finds. I found a keyhole cover with the crown and WR a couple weeks ago, but mine was circular. Cool militia button, weight and flatbuttons. Congrats!

They are definitely cool personal finds. I have found three now, all different types. Here are my first two:
This one has been identified by Ivor Noel Hume as a coin weight circa 1750.

Not sure about this one, but I like it.


And now this one, which I'm also not sure about.
