This Week's Civil War Relics

This is by far the best week i've had for Civil War relics. I found a lot of lead, including 2 valuable bullets and some nice brass.

Some brass:

2 buttons i cant identify. Not sure if they're civil war or not. The first one has a crown and below it possibly 2 anchors crossed with each other and is between the size of a half dime and dime. The back looks more like a snap, but i'm not sure. On the back it appears to have C F Co on it. The 2nd one is about the size of a dime and has "KEY" on it

On top is what i think is a .40 caliber Dimick, which i think is a rare bullet worth some money. The other is a .44 ringtale sharps

Re: This Week's Civil War Relics

Nice bunch of relics! If you don't already have it, Civil War Artifacts by Howard Crouch is a very helpful and inexpensive book that has helped my son and I identify a lot of our finds.

Re: This Week's Civil War Relics

Great finds. I cut this out of your picture because I was curious what it was. I know it's a stupid question but I have seen a few posted here and there and can't remember what it is.

I'm with Kevo. I have found the same object in a field of CW relics and don't know what it is.

Re: This Week's Civil War Relics

I could be wrong but I believe that piece that kevo and brn53 are referring to retained an epaulet/ shoulder scales. I could be wrong just my spin. By the way fantastic digs

Oh by the way no one can find everything and I'm finding out that nooks & crannies on private property is the way to go, just ask. "If ya don't knock the door might never open"!

I believe it attaches the shoulder scales, great finds!

Re: This Week's Civil War Relics

Nice finds! The item in question I think is the end of a strap that would connect to a piece like the first item shown in this thread.: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,112248.0.html
Someone had made a nice ID on one of these recently, showing the application very well, but I can't yet re-find the thread in which this is.

Re: This Week's Civil War Relics

Your the man John! I still haven't found my first Civil War bullet. ::)
