Longtime lurker...1st time poster. Finally found something odd and perhaps worthy of posting.
My brother and I went fishing on the West Coast of Florida and while waiting for high tide my brother wanted me to demonstrate my metal detector. Got a decent signal on my AT Pro and dug a clump of something. Washed off the loose stuff and thought I found a fishing lure but did see some strange markings/decorations...so I threw it in the ole' pouch. I forgot about it until my brother reminded me a day later. After I realized it wasn't a lure my next thought was a pirate earing :tongue3: Here's the initial photo's after it dried out.

Here it is all cleaned up.

Best I can tell...it is a Choker Pendant. It is marked .925/Brass/Copper. It also has a maker's mark that looks like a "R" with an "C" sort of encircling it. I believe it maybe Currier and Roby from New York. Although I'm not sure they made Jewelry.

Any additional thoughts or knowledge on this would be welcomed.
Thanks for looking.
Matt

I'm inclined to think its around a 100 year old piece. Nice find.

I agree with David... 100 y/o piece, I found a two piece women's belt buckle in a 1912 logging camp with similar style as your piece. I like your find! image.jpg

I'd say it is not a 100 year old piece. With that particular type of enhancer bale and the markings, although I cannot see them, it sounds like a Carolyn Pollack/Relios piece. The style looks like hers also. Does the mark resemble this one-

I did a little digging and I'm pretty sure this is your pendant- https://www.carolynpollack.com/product/28722

Thank you Diggimmup! That's the exact pendant. I too questioned the age because of the .925 marking...but you nailed it. That's why I posted. I have too admit I'm a li'l disappointed but still happy for the find. Thanks to all for the comments.

Until next time...

Matt

No. I was afraid electrolysis would stain the silver black. I took dental tools and methodically picked away the major crust. Then I alternated soaking it in jewelry cleaner, picking, and shining it until I was somewhat happy with it. It will never be like new but it has a story and character. Thanks, Matt

Glad you posted. I wish that was the fishing gear I was finding! Congrats!

Usually when I'm showing somebody how it's done (detecting) I pull up the good 'ole pop top, lead weight, aluminum trash, etc. and they asked if that's all I find.....ya mostly. When I tell them the thrill is in the hunt...I don't think they quite...believe me. But that's ok. We know the truth...and it's gold & silver!
