Thoughts About a Silver Ryedale and then some....

This hobby that provides us with so much fun and a way to find some nice coins, at a minimum cost, depends on two things.

1. It is not easy to actually go out and find collectable coins on a regular basis. You have to have the time, money and be willing to put out an effort. If someone comes up with a silver ryedale you are taking away the time and effort part of the equation and the money would be easy enough to come by. Large firms like Jackson metals would truly find all the silver.

2. The second part of the equation is the fact that a large portion of our population does not know the value of some of the coins they discard. There are those that don't know and those that don't care, drug addicts, thieves, etc.. The more that we do to educate the general populace and bank employees in particular, the less there will be for us to find.

We, as a hobby group, don't need to do anything that will diminish the hobby we all love to participate in.

Do you think large firms hand sort? The technology is there and it's being used daily by millions of people. Every time you put money into a vending machine the technology is used. When you use a metal detector it's used. In my part of the USA if you try to put a Canadian coin in a machine it's kicked back...... same with silver. And what about the coin counters in banks? Anything non USA gets rejected and some reject the silver too.

Don't coin star machines reject silver. If you want a silver sorter buy one of those.
