Three neat finds today including saddle shield & initialed lead

I hit an area today at the plantation house near a large rotted oak that had fallen. Within an hour I had a few keepers.

My first find was a decorative suspender clip.

Next I dug a long (12") piece of copper that looked like the rim of something. :dontknow: I rescanned the hole and got another signal. On the side of the hole, and to my amazement, I dug this saddle shield! I know it's just a plain one, but it still has leather & two nails attached. :hello2:

The third keeper was a real suprise. :o I dug this flat lead piece up close to where I dug the saddle shield. It has an old patina like the CW bullets I dig. It measures approx. 2" x 3". I thought it was just junk until I got home and cleaned it off a bit. Then I saw the letters "M A G" scratched into it with a knife I'm assuming. Could this be plate related?
Any ideas what "M A G" may stand for other than someones initials?
Union troops camped in the area for months at the end of the CW, so I'm hoping it could be CW related. :icon_scratch: :dontknow:

Thanks for looking Folks,
MM

Nice dig's Doug....the saddle shield and initialed lead seem to avoid me :laughing7:  Merry X-Mas to you and your's

Thanks Joe.
I very very happy to find that saddle shield. I'm still puzzled on the initialed lead piece with cut corner. There is also a design scratched on it that I didn't notice before. It looks like this.
Have a happy holiday,
Doug
P.S. Do you still have the large iron eagle? ;D

I wonder if that was a CW piece? :icon_scratch: I'm still finding relics in that area.
I hope it is. It even stumped "Ask Mark Parker" in W & ET mag I remember.
Neat one of a kind piece for sure.

Neat finds Doug! Can't wait to see what else you find......

Do you have a website where you have all your finds displayed? I would love to see all the great stuff you have found over the years. Joe

Thanks Joe.
No web site of all my finds. I'm not that hi-tech. :tongue3: :laughing9:

I see you have really been doing outstanding on your finds. I knew you would go from pull tabs to banner rather quickly. :occasion14: Congrats & keep it up.
