I took my tiger shark to a park today just to learn the ground balance... and when im in motion disk it dont have a humming noise ... but in the fast or slow all metal i have a little humming. i really dont want to change sttings inside becuse there still at factory settings.. can this be fixed with ground balance.. i reallt dont care if i hunt all metal. in fact i rather dig everything. i mean i did notice that a nail sort of had a double quick beat and a coin a soild one.. should i use it in just in the motion postion, or am i going to have to use it in all metal slow or fast... and whats the diffence between slow or fast all metal?

Motion detection with the Tiger Shark is silent- no threshhold hum. You'll hear it only if it is discriminating out something or has found a target. I personally use only the motion detection. I set the discrimination between 2 and 3 so that it eliminates some iron. As you've already noticed, you can tell by sound junk vs coins. But the TS still loves some metals, especially bobby pins.

I've had the TS for three years and love it. I've used it for both water and land hunting and it does great.

so i dont need to use the all metal mode's? why is there a fast and slow setting?.... but if i use it in all metal mode will i have to adjust the threshold inside? thats the big issue with me i dont want to adjust internal settings.. i hate the humming noise..

If you hate the humming noise, then don't hunt in all metal. Use the discrimination mode and set the discrimination down to 0. I never use the all metal so can't tell you the difference between fast and slow.

As long as it will find the jewlery i will keep it that way. thanks for the input... the owners manuel helps but dosent go into deep detail on why or when i should use the options

Last season with the TS I found, in the water, 8 gold rings, an 18k tiny gold pendant, 3 gold earrings, and 2 silver rings, plus, in the dirt, a silver ring, 3 barber dimes, a V-nickel, 2 buffalo nickles, a canadian silver 1/2 dime and 4 indian heads. And those were only the the better finds, tons of other stuff. So it does quite well in motion detection mode. Good luck

So will it humm all the time in all metal modes slow or fast? as for now ill keep it at the disc position with level 1 or 2 settings... im looking forward to getting in the water this year

Yes, fast or slow you get the threshhold hum in all metal.

... I'm glad i posted this before i did anything ... i was going to open and adjust the threshold to see if i could stop the humming.... thanks for the help.... i really do appreciate it
